Meeting characters in Disney World is all part of the fun (and we think it’s sometimes the BEST part of going to Disney World).
We’re also really excited about new character meet and greets we’ve seen pop up recently, like the new Moana meet and greet in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Well, listen up, Moana fans, because a NEW meet and greet with her will soon be added to EPCOT.
Recently, we got a chance to attend a Cast Member preview to experience EPCOT’s newest attraction, Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana, and we enjoyed what we saw (and all the water we got to play with). Disney made a big announcement at Destination D23 that the attraction would officially open on October 16th.
Well, Disney made another Moana announcement, too: Moana herself will be meeting guests somewhere near the new attraction in EPCOT’s World Nature ALSO on October 16th. So EPCOT will be introducing both a new attraction and a new character meet and greet on that day. Moana will have her own dedicated space for the meet and greet, too — and we got to see some concept art of what it will look like.
Moana even popped over to EPCOT to share the good news!

So, if you plan on checking out the attraction on that date, be sure to drop by and say hello to Moana, too.
We’ll be covering all the big announcements from Destination D23, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

Disclosure: In nearly all circumstances, Disney Food Blog writers and photographers pay full price for their own travel, hotel, food, beverage, and event tickets. We do this because it’s important to us as journalists to ensure not only that we give you unbiased opinions, but also that you can trust us to do so since we’re paying our own way. On rare occasions, when we are invited by a company to attend a preview as media, and when we choose to accept that invitation, we will always make you, our readers, aware of that situation. Today, we were invited by Disney World to attend the Destination D23 event. Note that when we attend events as media we are 1) Not required to review that event/food on any of our channels, and 2) Not required to review that event/food favorably. You can always count on DFB to give you a 100% unbiased and honest review of any event that we attend, food that we eat, or beverage that we drink. You can see more in our Disclosure Policy.
