Star Wars fans famously have strong opinions…especially about the three-movie trilogies!
You’ve got your Star Wars purists devoted to the original films, the prequel lovers, and then, the people who became fans because of the sequels released in the 2010s. Movies 7, 8, and 9 are probably the most controversial of the bunch, and it didn’t help that they killed off some fan-favorite characters. But one person in particular is getting a lot of hate for one on-screen death!
Adam Driver played the lead role of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo in the Star Wars sequel films, and many people praised his performance (especially those who immediately fell in love with his bad boy type!). But one thing Kylo Ren did in the movies that’s apparently unforgivable? He killed Han Solo.
And technically that’s up for debate because you don’t actually see him fully do the deed — fans are divided on whether they think he did it or not. But that certainly doesn’t stop some brazen individuals from approaching Adam Driver on the street and accusing him of murder. (Sounds like a regular Tuesday, if you ask us. 😅)
During a recent appearance on SNL, Adam Driver gave his opening monologue as though he were sharing his Christmas list with Santa Claus. One of his biggest requests? For people to stop approaching him on the street to say “You killed Han Solo!”
Driver went on to say perhaps the best quote of the monologue — “I didn’t kill Han Solo, wokeness killed Han Solo!”
So if you’re looking for someone to blame for the murder of the beloved scoundrel and scruffy nerfherder, it looks like you need to get mad at “wokeness” instead of Adam Driver. For the love of all that is good, please quit stopping that man on the street to accuse him of killing his own father — it kind of crushes the vibe, you guys.

Not happy that he said this, as there’s already a misunderstanding of what the word ‘woke’ means, and this could only add fuel to the fire. He could have instead taken this opportunity to remind people that actors are real people, and they’re not the characters they portray. Sometimes I think people forget that….
Melanie Durham says
And people need to remember that these are just movies and to stop being so sensitive!
Janet C says
Funny! It’s refreshing when an actor doesn’t take himself or things too seriously.
Dan R says
You also have to take into account that this was said on SNL and is just a topical joke given what Bob Iger said a few days ago.
Joe Sesek says
What he should have done is kill the whole Star Wars franchise. Same story over and over. Actions scene at the beginning. Everybody has their mental problems in the middle, followed by a huge CGI battle at the end.
Not only Star Wars, same pattern with Avengers, Superman/Batman, etc.
Melanie Durham says
Haha, what @joe said!!!
