We’re in Disney World all the time, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t surprised from time to time!

Whether we’re graced with some Cast Member magic or met with something less pleasant — like transportation woes —  every day is a little bit different in the parks. This week, we encountered a few random things on our travels — come take a look!

Chicken Guy! Sauces

Unfortunately, we’re starting off with a sad surprise. Recently, we learned that TWELVE sauces had been removed from the Chicken Guy! menu. While there are still ten to choose from, some of our favorites are no longer available!

Saying we are disappointed is an understatement. However, at least there are some new options on the menu to try! Shortly after learning about this sauce debacle, the restaurant added 3 new sandwiches to the lineup: the new Hot Honey, Buffalo Ranch, and Buffalo Mac ‘n’ Cheese sandwiches.

Summer House on the Lake

Our next surprise is thankfully a happy one — Summer House on the Lake opened!

We had previously learned that it would be opening near the end of this year and recently saw that the menus were released online.

As of December 13th, 2023, however, it became official that the restaurant would be opening today, December 14th, 2023.

We already had a chance to check it out, and it is stunning! Stay tuned for our full review!

Dapper Day Dresses After Dapper Day

Recently, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios both had Dapper Days, where guests dress up in their best retro fashions. These events are usually a ton of fun, and the participants looked amazing!

But, we were surprised to find a new collection of dapper merch after these events had ended. In Uptown Jewelers in Magic Kingdom, a new line of Disneyland-inspired Dapper Day outfits has arrived after the fact.

If anyone wanted to sport these new outfits during the event, they’d have been out of luck!

Pumpkin Gelato

We had yet another timing-based unexpected event happen this week! The gelato cart on Grand Avenue in Disney’s Hollywood Studios typically has a rotating flavor each month — and this month it’s pumpkin.

Okay, we know it’s still technically autumn until December 21st, but for Disney standards, it’s basically Christmas!

Christmas Cuttlefish Village

We had to end on a delightful surprise, so for this one, we’re heading to EPCOT’s SeaBase aquariums.

Every year, the little aquariums get decked out for the holidays! In the past, we’ve seen a fun coral Christmas tree and this fun menorah that is “lit” for Hanukkah.

But this year, there are new decorations, and we’re obsessed. The Christmas Cuttlefish Village has debuted in the Nursery aquariums, and we think these “gingerbread” houses rival the one at Disney’s Grand Floridian.

It looks like the cuttlefish are enjoying the Christmas vibes as well.
