When you work at Disney World, you go to the parks all the time and you start to see things that you never noticed as a theme park guest.
After working at Disney World, there are things that I never do anymore during my park day, but there are also things that I never EAT anymore. We’re here to tell you about those things at one specific restaurant!
We’re not here to judge you for what you choose to eat at Backlot Express in Hollywood Studios. It definitely serves its purpose in providing the basic menu options many people are looking for to please a crowd — you can get a decent burger and fries. In fact, we RECOMMEND Backlot Express because it is very good at the basics! But, after working at Disney World and seeing ALL the options they have to offer, we’d like to recomment you not get these two things at Backlot Express, and we’re giving you our recommendations for what to grab elsewhere that’s just a bit more … exciting!
1. The Bland Burger Blues
Sure, you can find burgers at almost every quick-service spot in the park, but if you’re looking for something truly satisfying, skip the basic burger at Backlot Express.
Instead, head over to Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land for their mouthwatering BBQ Brisket Melt — you won’t regret it.
Or how about heading over to Ronto Roasters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and giving the Ronto Wrap a go? It’s roasted pork, grilled pork sausage, and peppercorn sauce all wrapped in pita bread — unique and delicious.
2. Generic Fries
The French fires you’ll get at Backlot Express are the basic “Disney World fries” you can get at quick-service spots around the resort.
And don’t get us wrong, we LIKE the Disney fries. But they’re nothing super special — you can find similar fries almost anywhere. (You CAN get a cup of plastic cheese to dip those fries in for $1, though), and if you’re eating at Backlot Express, we INSIST YOU GET THE CHEESE.
But if it’s a fun potato side that you’re looking for (or one that could be a whole meal), we need to remind you that the Totchos are nearby at Woody’s Lunch Box! These are potato barrels topped with chili, cheese, queso with tomatoes, corn chips, sour cream, and green onions. YEP. They’re LOADED. There’s even a plant-based version.
Well, we hope that you now have a few extra ideas for lunch or dinner in Hollywood Studios! We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more Disney news, so follow along so that you’re always in the loop!
