REVIEW: 2 NEW Treats Have Arrived in EPCOT!

We do our best to keep up with all the menu changes we catch online. We’re also in the parks checking out any and all seasonal treats as they appear. Sometimes, we just notice some new snacks while we’re wandering around the parks. Well, we’ve got two NEW snacks in EPCOT to tell you about, but they come with a word of warning.

Let’s head on over to the Italy Pavilion where we’re visiting Gelateria Toscana. This is a gelato shop where we discovered a few new snacks. The first is a Cookie Sandwich, which is made with a Homemade Cookie and Vanilla Gelato for $12. The gelato is so creamy and smooth and has a great authentic vanilla flavor! The cookies also have a pretty good amount of chocolate chips inside.

HOWEVER, this was nearly impossible to eat. The cookies are the same size as the bowl they come in, so it’s hard to pick up. Then when you DO manage to pick it up, it’s SO messy. The cookies are also hard (not crunchy — hard), which could be because the gelato is sorta’ freezing them up. It was difficult to bite into and there was no way to eat it with utensils. Overall, although it was tasty, it was just too difficult to eat. And really, it was nothing compared to those awesome cookie ice cream sandwiches we get in Animal Kingdom.

We also tried the Zeppole Sundae for $12.75, which is made with Zeppole (think Italian donut holes), vanilla gelato, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. Again, the gelato is creamy and smooth with a great flavor. The Zeppole were soft with just a bit of chewiness — they almost melted in our mouths.

The chocolate sauce adds a chocolate flavor, but it doesn’t taste like REAL chocolate. It’s got a very artificial flavor. It would probably be better without the chocolate sauce. We’d also say it seems pricey for what you get.

Overall, we don’t think these are two snacks we’d have again, but we’ll happily order a scoop or two of that vanilla gelato over and over!
