If you’re heading to Disney World in May, there are some things you NEED to know.
Disney World is ever-changing and things can look different at the resort from month to month. From crowd levels to restaurant openings and closings a lot can happen in the span of a few weeks. Of course, that allow applies to Disney World’s many rides and attractions! If you’re planning a trip to The Most Magical Place On Earth in May 2024, you should be prepared for these three rides and attractions to be closed for refurbishment.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Up first is the upcoming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom. Replacing Splash Mountain, this new attraction is nearing its opening date!
Several signs point to the ride opening very soon and it is officially slated to open this summer — but since May still falls under the spring, we’re listing it “under refurbishment”. We’ll keep you posted if anything is announced and the timeline changes!
Country Bear Jamboree
Staying in Magic Kingdom, Country Bear Jamboree was closed in January 2024 for a refurbishment that would update the classic Disney attraction with a more modern touch.
Like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the new Country Bear show is scheduled to reopen this summer with new songs and the same cast of loveable bears! While you might see one of the bears hanging around Magic Kingdom, we don’t know too much about the specifics of the reopening timeline, so it might be safe to assume this attraction will be unavailable throughout May. Again, we’ll let you know about any status changes.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith has also been closed for refurbishment since January and all indications point to it remaining closed for the unforeseeable future.
Another attraction scheduled to reopen in the summer, this indoor coaster that provides thrills to popular Aerosmith hits goes through refurbishments often. Its 2023 closure extended into four months, so it’s possible that it reopens in May, its fourth month of closure. However, Disney has not provided a reopening date and it remains on the refurbishment schedule, so this could wind up being a lengthy one.
Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
Although not a ride or attraction, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park should be mentioned under May 2024 refurbishments as it will also be closed during the month.
One of two water parks at Disney World, Blizzard Beach closed for refurbishment in mid-March. Disney has not announced a reopening date, but its counter-park Typhoon Lagoon is open and available for all your water park needs!
