We’re always on the hunt for the tastiest eats around — whether that’s at Disney World or somewhere else!
So when we heard a new sandwich was coming to McDonald’s, we knew we had to try it. Sometimes after a long park day, all you really need is some comfort food and the Golden Arches can provide that. So, let’s see if this new sandwich fits the bill!
McDonald’s new Bacon Cajun Ranch Chicken McCrispy sandwich features a “southern-style” fried chicken filet, applewood smoked bacon, pickles, and cajun ranch sauce smothered on a potato roll. You can also get the deluxe version, which is the same with the addition of tomato slices and shredded lettuce. Since I wanted to pretend I was being healthy by eating vegetables, I opted for the deluxe. Prices can vary wildly depending on where you live, but I paid around $11 for it.
First things first — you need to know that I love ranch, and I love cajun flavors. I’m a dip-everything-in-ranch kind of gal, so this sandwich sounded pretty appealing to me. But, like most McDonald’s chicken sandwiches, this one looked better than it tasted. The bun was pillowy and fresh, and the lettuce and tomato added a welcome crunch to it. That’s about where the good news ends.
I really tried to like this sauce — it did have a good kick to it, so don’t get caught off guard by that! However, ranch and cajun — it was not. It was almost reminiscent of a remoulade sauce like it was trying super hard to be one, but ultimately it didn’t have that tang. Along the same lines, it wasn’t really ranch either. It was a spicy, creamy, herby sauce but not one I’m itching to have more of!
I could hardly taste the bacon at all because there was so much sauce on this thing — it really just overpowered everything and not in a “more sauce is better” sort of way. The chicken filet wasn’t very crispy as the name implies, and was pretty dry as well making it kind of tough to chew. Let’s just say that the best parts of this meal were the french fries and Diet Coke I had with it!
