We have been seeing some unusual trends in Disney World parks crowds, and we noticed more strangeness going on today in Animal Kingdom.
A few weeks ago, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios were sold out. It is rare to see Animal Kingdom sold out while reservations still remain for EPCOT and Magic Kingdom. Usually, Animal Kingdom is one of the last to sell out. But here we are again — seeing a similar trend at Animal Kingdom today!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is sold out today for ticket and hotel guests. However, Annual Passholders can still get in today as it is a good-to-go day. Animal Kingdom is the only park sold out today and it is looking crowded already! Individual Lightning Lanes are sold out for Avatar Flight of Passage and the stand-by wait is close to 2 hours. Kilimanjaro Safaris is similarly crowded with a wait time of 95 minutes. Yikes!
As of January 9th, 2024, Disney World doesn’t require theme park reservations for guests with regular, date-based tickets. However, some ticket types will still need park reservations, including student group tickets, Disney Military Salute tickets, Florida Resident Disney Thrills tickets, sport and convention tickets, and Annual Passholders. However, today is a good-to-go day for Annual Passholders so Animal Kingdom is still available if you are an Annual Passholder.
Usually, Animal Kingdom is one of the last parks to sell out, so we are definitely surprised to see it being the ONLY park sold out today. Even with Animal Kingdom being sold out, the price for Genie+ today is still the lowest of any park. Animal Kingdom costs $17 per guest, while EPCOT costs $19, Hollywood Studios costs $24, and Magic Kingdom costs $27. You can get a Multiple Parks Genie+ for $27 today. We are always watching park availability and keeping you updated with changes.

Just means Disney staffed the park incredibly low and guests hit the ridiculously low limit. Disney assumed the mount would be low for this time of year and guests went above the low number. Disney guessed wrong.
