If you plan to stay at a Disney World hotel in 2025, you will want to consider getting a Disney Refillable Mug. These mugs can be purchased for the length of your stay and allow you to take advantage of UNLIMITED refills on fountain drinks, coffee, and tea from participating beverage locations at the Disney World hotels.
Whether you are looking for a caffeine boost in the morning or a refreshing drink after a long day at the parks, having a Disney Refillable Mug makes it easy to grab a drink at your hotel. However, as you are deciding whether you want to purchase a Disney Refillable Mug, you will want to know about these rules that Disney will be enforcing in 2025.
Disney Refillable Mugs can be purchased by hotel guests for free refills throughout their vacation! The refillable mugs are 16 oz insulated mugs that can be purchased or come with your Dining Plan at the Disney World hotels at the resort’s primary counter service location. But what are some of the rules you will want to know before you make the purchase? Here are seven rules that you need to know!
Valid for the Length of Your Stay (Up to 14 Days)
When you purchase your mug, it will be valid for the length of your stay, up to 14 days. The refillable mugs currently cost $22.99, which gives you unlimited refills during your stay for that one price. No need to pay for each day of your stay; one purchase will do the trick for up to 14 days.
There Are Certain Beverages You Can’t Fill Them With
While you can fill your mugs with almost any drink available at the quick service locations, there are a few exceptions. You won’t be able to fill your mug with milk, real fruit juice, or alcohol. Just something to be aware of before you purchase a refillable mug. We don’t want you to be looking forward to a cold glass of milk each morning only to find out you can’t actually get milk in your refillable mug. However, fountain drinks, coffee, and tea are all available for your mug!
You Must Wait Between Refills
We know, we know, we said they were unlimited refills. But, here’s the thing, they are pretty much limitless, BUT you do need to wait in between refills. Not a long time, though, just 2 minutes in between refills. While we know there may be times when you can chug a whole mug in less than two minutes, we have a feeling this restriction won’t affect you too much. The only time we usually notice it is when we accidentally fill up with the wrong thing or don’t fill our mug all the way up. And waiting for two minutes is definitely doable. So fill up your mug to your heart’s content (as long as you wait two minutes in between each refill)!
Can’t Be Refilled in the Parks
This is a HUGE one. Refillable mugs can ONLY be refilled at the Disney World hotels; they can’t be refilled in the Disney parks. You won’t be able to bring your mug to Magic Kingdom and get it refilled at a quick-service restaurant; it can only be refilled at a hotel. We want to make sure this is super clear because we don’t want you to be disappointed by trying to fill it up in Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom. You can bring the mugs with you to the parks, but you won’t be able to get them refilled.
You Can Fill Up at Any Disney World Hotel
While they are only refillable at Disney World hotels, you can refill them at ANY Disney World hotel. It doesn’t matter if you are staying at the hotel or not. That means you can bring your mug with you to resort hop and fill up at the hotels as you are exploring. Or, if you are dining at a different hotel, you can bring your mug along for a post or pre-meal drink. As long as your mug is active, you can refill it at an Disney World hotel refill station.
The Water Parks Have Their Own Refillable Mug
Alright, we are going to add a bit of confusion here. While the Disney World theme parks do not offer any sort of refillable mug, the Disney water parks DO offer a refillable mug. You can grab a refillable mug at Disney’s Blizzard Beach or Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. However, it differs from the one you purchase at the hotels, and the water park refillable mug only works at the water parks. As well, your hotel refillable mug only works at hotels and will not work at the water parks.
Yak and Yeti Used To Offer a Refillable Tumbler
And if you aren’t already confused enough, we have one more layer of confusion to add. There currently isn’t anywhere in the Disney World theme parks to get a refillable mug, but Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes used to offer a refillable mug. The mug had a Yak & Yeti design and could be refilled for free all day, but only at Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes. However, it became an issue that people were trying to get it refilled in other places in the park, so they ended up not making it refillable anymore. You can still purchase the tumbler, but you won’t be able to take advantage of free refills.
Now that you know all the rules about refillable mugs, you need to decide which hotel to stay at! Trying to decide what the best hotel is for your family? We’ve got you covered with a whole video dedicated to the BEST Disney World hotels in 2025:

We plan on purchasing the refillable mug on our upcoming April trip.
The trip is for 7 nights, but it will be split between BLT, OKW and BW. Will we be able to use the same mug the full 7 nights?
DFB Gigi says
Hi Denise! Yes, you will be able to use your mug the entire time.

We had the meal plan on a six night trip. We received the mugs of course, but we never used them. I would rather have the money. I think you would have to be around the resort more to use them. If you could use them anywhere that would be awesome. People would be carrying them in the parks.
Jean says
Since when you go to get a refill at the soda fountain you do not go through any checkout line. How could they possibly know when you bought your mug?
DFB Gigi says
Hi Jean! The mugs and cups have an RFID chip in them that has to be activated and is good for 14 days.
Jean says
Thanks Gigi. But my question still is. If I’m not going through any kind of a checkout line or cashier how would they read a chip? If I’m just walking into my hotel after coming from the park and go to a Self-Service soda dispenser. How would they know that my cup was not valid?
DFB Gigi says
Hi Jean. The drink fountain machine reads the chip. You wouldn’t be required to go through a checkout line. If your cup is not activated, the drink fountain will not work.
Charles says
The mugs should be able to be restarted, if you bring them back to the place where they were purchased. We take frequent trips to WDW, but they are usually more than a month apart. $22.99/cup is steep. They were intended to cut back on waste. Now we are supposed to just throw them into recycling, at that price? I do not think so.
Ron says
Gigi, was JUICY ALWAYS NOT AVAILABLE FREE with the mugs? Thanks Ron
Ron says
Juice and milk
DFB Gigi says
Hi Ron. As far as I know it wasn’t.
Ron says
Gigi, I am still confused. Was Juice and milk available with the mug before? Did this change ELIMINATE JUICE AND MILK as items that would be free with the purchase of the mug? Thanks Ron
DFB Gigi says
Hi Ron, milk wasn’t included. The only juice that was included was what was in the soda dispenser, which was usually lemonade or fruit punch.
Louise says
Hi Gigi,
Are there any changes for Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve? Are the refillable mugs still not available at their quick service?
Thanks!
DFB Gigi says
Hi Louise! Unfortunately the mugs are still not available at the Swan & Dolphin or the Swan Reserve because they are not Disney-owned resorts.
