This year has been a HUGE year for change in Disney World. Muppets Courtyard has closed in Disney’s Hollywood Studios to make way for a Monsters, Inc. land. In Magic Kingdom, Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America have closed to make way for a new Cars expansion (plus a Villains land is coming to the park, too). Parts of DinoLand, U.S.A. have already closed in Disney’s Animal Kingdom to make way for a new Tropical Americas-themed land.
In EPCOT, Test Track has been closed for over a year so that it could get a completely new theme and upgrade. Well, that ride is reopening soon, and that’s going to change how you use Lightning Lanes in EPCOT. We’re going to break it down for you.
On July 22nd, Test Track will reopen, and Lightning Lanes will change in EPCOT. Here’s what to expect. First, Test Track will be added to Lightning Lane Multi Pass as a Tier 1 attraction. Soarin’, which is currently a Tier 1 attraction, will then become a Tier 2 attraction.
So here’s how that works: Disney World visitors can preselect one Tier 1 Lightning Lane in advance, as well as two Tier 2 Lightning Lanes. The three Tier 1 Lightning Lanes to choose from include Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Test Track. The Tier 2 Lightning Lanes include Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, Journey Into Imagination with Figment, Living with the Land, Mission: SPACE, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Soarin’, Spaceship Earth, and Turtle Talk with Crush. Note that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is still a Lightning Lane Single Pass attraction.
This could change your strategy for your Lightning Lane preselections in EPCOT, especially if Test Track is a priority. Note that you can still book Lightning Lanes on the day of your EPCOT visit after you’ve scanned into your first Lightning Lane for all attraction tiers.
Remember that Disney World hotel guests can preselect Lightning Lanes seven days in advance of the first day of their trip, while everyone else can book three days in advance. If you’re heading to EPCOT on or after July 22nd, though, you’ll want to make note of these changes.
