It’s like everywhere you turn in Disney World, you’re going to run into construction of some kind. Now, construction can be a little annoying, but it can also mean good things are on the way. For example, Magic Kingdom is building a new land and an expansion. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is building a new land. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is building a new land and reimagining another one.
Yep, there’s a lot of construction happening, but at least Disney gives us a heads up when construction is on the way. That’s why we’re warning you about some construction coming to a Disney World hotel restaurant.
This new construction is happening at Wailulu Bar and Grill at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Island Tower (yep, one of our favorite new Disney World restaurants is already getting some updates). The construction is scheduled to begin on April 23rd and last through late June. It will involve updating the exterior roofing at the restaurant.
The good news is that the restaurant will remain open while the work is happening, but you may see and hear some construction, especially outside. However, some things will change while the restaurant is open. The bar will only offer walk-up service every day until 5 PM, and seating will not be available.
However, seating will resume from 5 PM through close. Disney confirmed that construction will be noticeable during daytime hours, but it will try to keep disruptions to a minimum for restaurant visitors.
We stopped by to see the construction for ourselves and noticed that scaffolding was being set up around the restaurant.
We also saw signs of construction through one of the windows.
There are walls up near the back door, and we heard the sounds of power tools while we were there.
This is in addition to the work currently being done at Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace, which is attached to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto just off the main hotel lobby. This closure will probably last at least through June, so keep that in mind if you’re visiting the Polynesian.
We’ll keep an eye out for more construction updates in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
