Could a popular ride be temporarily closing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios soon?

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
We recently saw that Walt Disney World filed a construction permit for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Hollywood Studios, and it looks like maintenance work could be coming. Let’s talk about what we know so far!
Disney World just filed a permit for Coastal Steel Inc. to perform “General Construction” at the address of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. We hate to say that there are literally no other details, but the hired contractor means there could be steel work on the way.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
In the past, Coastal Steel had done work on the Chinese Theatre façade of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, so it’s possible they could also be performing an exterior refurbishment. It’s important to note that Coastal Steel has also worked on ride systems. So, we could be seeing work being done on the ride directly or on the exterior. We’re not sure right now, so we don’t know if there will be any future closure to the popular attraction.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
The permit was filed by Disney’s Facility Asset Management team, which usually handles basic maintenance rather than thematic changes. Taking that into mind, and the fact that there have been no announcements about this attraction as of late, we think it’s safe to assume this is a small maintenance job.

Runaway Railway
We’ll have to add this to the list of work being done at Hollywood Studios alone. The Walt Disney Studios’ Magic of Disney Animation opens on September 14th, and Disney is in the last stages of putting it together. While Monstropolis is also under construction, but of course, there is no opening date for that quite yet. We are anticipating we’ll get news during the D23 Expo.

Construction is moving FAST
