One of our favorite spots on Disney’s BoardWalk currently is Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. It may seem like just a corn dog stand, but it’s far more than that — there’s a reason Disney brought it over to the East Coast from Disneyland Resort!

It’s rare that this spot lets us down, which is part of the reason we were super excited to try the new Jalapeño Popper that arrived on the menu recently. It only costs $7, which we thought was a steal…and then we tried it, and realized that was $7 we kinda wished we had saved.

The Jalapeño Popper is available for $6.99, and we were really looking forward to trying it out, but we were unfortunately pretty disappointed. The Cast Members did recommend we get ranch with the popper, which did cost an additional $1. We put the popper in the ranch, and it immediately began falling off the stick, making it incredibly hard to eat. The ranch did help boost the flavor of the snack, but we don’t think it was enough to save the snack overall.

This was just incredibly hard to eat overall and bite through, which made it hard to enjoy. Due to the softness of the batter and the crunchy outside of the pepper, it was hard to get both flavors in one bite. The pepper is supposed to be stuffed with so many delicious offerings — cream cheese, sour cream, a Mexican-cheese blend, bacon, corn, red onion, garlic, Tajín, cotija cheese, and cilantro, but we didn’t get as much flavor as we would have liked it.

This was VERY hard to eat

We didn’t really get a hint of that spice we were expecting until the very end of the snack, and we wished it would have been more evenly spread throughout. It’s our sincere hope we just maybe got a not-so-great batch, as we do feel this snack does have a lot of potential, but we are sad this replaced the Deep Fried Cheesecake that arrived at the stand in May.

There wasn’t as much flavor as we would have liked

In case you missed that treat, the Deep Fried Cheesecake was $13 and was a slice of plain cheesecake, battered and fried in pancake batter, then dusted with powdered sugar and covered in strawberries, served with a side of whipped cream. The ratios were perfect, the treat was perfectly fried, and we’ve honestly been dreaming about it since we had it. We would love to see this return to the menu!
