Welcome to Pandora — The World of AVATAR!
We are THRILLED to bring you along with us on our very first visit to the newest land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! (And be sure to check out our full food reviews of Satu’li Canteen and Pongu Pongu, too!) [Read more…]
For today’s DFB Video we are heading to Disney’s Animal Kingdom again! We know that everyone will be hitting up this park to see Pandora, so we wanted to be sure you had a few other suggestions of must-eats while you’re in Animal Kingdom!
I am a huge fan of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The theming is incredible, right down to the cracked pavement and crumbling walls that you find throughout each land. And there’s so much happening here right now. Pandora — The World of Avatar is set to open in just a few short weeks, and there’s always the Rivers of Light show.
If you have fond memories of strolling through your favorite Disney World Park as a youngster (or as a not-so-youngster!), clutching a plastic tube full of flavored sweet and/or sour sugar, you might be a Goofy’s Powdered Candy fan.
While powdered candy is by no means new to Disney World (we first chatted about this sugary indulgence years ago), the current incarnation of the treat is somewhat updated. You see, around a year ago, Goofy’s Powdered Candy suddenly vanished from merchandise spots where it had been a staple for ages: place like the Main Street Confectionery, Epcot’s Mouse Gear, and the like.
And then — just as suddenly — it came back on the scene to several of its previous locations (though not all… yet). Goofy’s Powdered Candy even showed up in places it hadn’t been seen before, like Zuri’s Sweets Shop in Animal Kingdom. BOOM! [Read more…]
Today, we’re heading into Disney’s Animal Kingdom to do what we always do…
A little exploring, accompanied by a little snacking!
And once again, we’re going vegetarian, because that’s a particularly easy thing to do when it comes to snacking at Animal Kingdom. We’ve already learned, in fact , that the focus on providing above par vegetarian options will continue in Animal Kingdom’s upcoming land, Pandora — The World of AVATAR, thanks to a look at the full menu for Satu’li Canteen (the land’s primary dining establishment).
But today we’re winding down a well-traveled path heading from the Africa section of Animal Kingdom into Asia, with a visit to Mr. Kamal’s, which remains one of our favorite kiosks in the park.
Mr. Kamal’s kiosk has proven itself time and time again as a great (and convenient) spot to grab something quick, portable, and vegetarian. The current menu features Hummus served with mini pitas and veggies, Samosa, and falafel, to give you an idea of what to expect. [Read more…]

Are you ready to learn a little more about what you can expect when Satu’li Canteen opens on May 27th, along with the rest of Pandora – The World of AVATAR in Disney’s Animal Kingdom?
Good! Because we already know a little bit about the backstory of this fast-casual restaurant, which was formerly the Mess Hall for the RDA (Resources Development Administration) base in the Valley of Mo’ara. (So many apostrophes.) But once we are all welcomed in, the space will be serving its transformed function as a museum-like dining facility for visitors exploring Pandora, owned by the ACE (Alpha Centauri Experience) tour company. [Read more…]
Let’s try some word association. We’ll give you a bunch of words, and you tell us what they make you think of. Baked. Macaroni. Cheese.
Your turn. We’ll wait.
Correct! The answer is “YUM!” Great work. Now, come along as we tell you where you can find all of the above in three awesome, cheesy incarnations. We’ll give you a hint: You’re gonna hAVATARrific day in this park. 😉
That’s right! Animal Kingdom! With all of the excitement about Pandora — The World of Avatar and Rivers of Light that’s ramping up right now, it can be tough to plan your Animal Kingdom park days — especially your dining! [Read more…]
Picture it: it’s a hot day in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
(OK, that’s not the case right this minute, but LOTS of the time it’s a hot day in Animal Kingdom. ;-D) You need a beverage. Preferably one that is cold, sweet, and good for 5 o’clock somewhere. Even better if it has a groovy name.
We got your back. The Cretaceous Cooler found at the crowd-pleasing Restaurantosaurus may just check all of those boxes for you.
Aside from serving up consistently good Disney Counter Service classics like Chicken Nuggets and Bacon Cheeseburgers, Restaurantosaurus is also funky, fun, and kitschy enough to fit right in with its kitsch-central home, DinoLand U.S.A. (We say this with nothin’ but love.)
The paleontology students who — as the story goes — are responsible for the humorous décor all over the restaurant must’ve also felt the need for a cool drink to kick back with after a long week of study (well, those 21-and-over, that is). [Read more…]
