2025 has seen a double-digit number of norovirus outbreaks on cruise ships, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Norovirus is a very contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea, thanks to acute gastroenteritis, an inflammation of the stomach or intestines.
If you’re going on a cruise soon, you might want to pay attention and take some extra health precautions.

If you’ve been following the news, you may be aware that several cruise ships have recently been struck by viral outbreaks, most notably norovirus. Many cruise lines have been affected by outbreaks, including Cunard and Holland America. Well, in the last week alone, three more cruise ships had gastrointestinal outbreaks as reported by the CDC.
Another norovirus outbreak has hit Holland America Line for the third time this year.

According to USA Today, it was reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that nearly 90 people got sick, including 79 passengers and nine crew members.
