Modern Mixology Description

Few things in life are as certain as death and taxes, unless it’s the annual migratory flight of hordes of hungry Disney fans headed to Florida for the October Epcot Food & Wine Festival. This year, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin decided to get in on the act, and it was high time as far as my husband and I were concerned. There are some incredible restaurants housed at these two hotels and the Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic provided a taste of what they have to offer. We purchased advance tickets to the event for $50 each, which gave us unlimited food and drink samples at the stations set up along the walkway between the hotels as well as our choice of a beverage seminar one hour before the official event was slated to begin.

Mixology Seminar Atmosphere and Eats/Drinks
Based on our fondness for mixed drinks and past experiences with Bluezoo’s cocktail menu, this was the beverage seminar my husband and I most wanted to attend.

Fresh Introduces New Signature Cocktail Menu

The Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort‘s mixology lab has come up with another new menu of delicious drinks.

This time, Fresh — located in the Dolphin section of the resort — unveils a colorful array of cocktails ranging from the classic Mimosa and Bloody Mary to the more extravagant Istanbul Coffee, Egyptian Honey Bourbon Tea, and Barcelona White Sangria. While the former selections are guest favorites, the latter options offer guests a taste of the restaurant’s signature Mediterranean flavors.

Five New Disney World Drinks You’ve Gotta Try

You guys know I’m always looking for new, fun drinks to try, and I had a field day on my recent trip to Orlando! Here are just a few of my new favorites:

Yak and Yeti: Shaved Ice Martini
A.K.A. — the snow cone. This fun drink comes in three flavors — Grape, Cherry, and Citrus/Melon. I chose the shockingly bright green version, which included vodka, midori, and pineapple juice along with my (beloved) sweet and sour. The presentation is the best part, but who WOULDN’T want to try an alcoholic snow cone?! Find it at Yak and Yeti Restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

La Luce by Donna Scala: Limonata

Swan and Dolphin Introduce the Food and Wine Classic, October 8-9

I’ve got some great news! For those of you considering heading to Orlando to enjoy the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival, now you’ve got an extra incentive to make your plans! The Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts have just announced their first Annual Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic, which will be taking place on October 8th and 9th, 2010! There are also some incredible hotel deals to go along with it. Here are the specs:

When:

Friday, Oct. 8 and Saturday, Oct. 9
4:30pm – 5:30pm = Beverage Seminars (Wine Blending, Riesling, Sake, Champagne, Beer, Mixology)

Todd English’s bluezoo at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort is introducing a special romantic menu just for Valentine’s Day Weekend (Friday, Feb. 12th – Sunday, Feb. 14th). It includes:

  • wagyu ny strip and mero seabass for two: caramelize onion rosti, hammock hollows braised greens, béarnaise, lobster jus $90
  • halibut: parsley root, baby fennel, finger lime, lemon balm $36
  • cocktail: flaming heart: hangar one raspberry, godiva white chocolate liqueur, pama liqueur, rose petal-tea, fresh muddled raspberries, topped with flaming raspberries $13

restaurant_appSome cool news about the Swolphin: there’s an iPhone and iTouch application devoted to their restaurants.

Head over to the app and choose to visit one of the following: Signature Dining, Casual Dining, Quick Service, Character Dining, Lounges, Photos, or More Info. You can quickly and easily see menus and even make reservations from your phone, no matter where you are! You can find out more info about the app at the Swan and Dolphin website.

The Swan and Dolphin Resorts are located centrally in Walt Disney World, within walking distance of both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. They boast 17 restaurants and lounges, including Todd English’s bluezoo; Shula’s Steak House; and Italian restaurant, Il Mulino New York Trattoria.
