We’ve shown you Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios (along with Toy Story Land) all dressed up for the season, now it’s time to highlight the Animal Kingdom. Their Christmas decorations are always fun to see as they incorporate themes from the park attractions and regions represented in the park. Plus, while we were taking in all the decorations we found some new menu updates as well as some must-have merchandise!
Whether this is your first or 10th visit to Animal Kingdom during Christmas be sure to take some time to look at the ornaments on the tree at the entrance to the park. They are both representative of the park, and also feature some favorite Disney characters!
Animal Kingdom Christmas Decorations
This is an impressive tree! Can you see Mickeys, rhinos, baskets, pottery, lions, and more ornaments on here?
Looking around the base of the tree is a must as well — there’s Jiminy Cricket, Eeyore, Stitch, and a train!
Once you’re in the park you see signs of the season all over! Creature Comforts is outfitted with garland and trees.
All around Discovery Island you’ll find signs of the season on lamps, signs, and more.
The Dinos in Dinoland U.S.A. even managed to decorate! Santa-Saurus even makes an appearance here! 😀
Restaurantosaurus is decked out for the holiday as well.
They are still celebrating Donald’s Dino Bash in this area of the park, so Donald is in his Dino Bash outfit instead of his holiday outfit. They have also incorporated Christmas decorations into the Dino-Bash decor already in this area.
We find this tiny dino a little un-nerving. How about you?
In Asia there are seasonal lanterns and lights hanging up — look up to see them!
More on the construction here later in the post — keep reading!
Over in Africa, Tusker House is dressed up.
Ziwani Traders is also decorated for the season.
Tamu Tamu, where you can get Dole Whip in this park, is also sporting some Christmas decor.
There’s this cool Christmas wreath on some of the lamps around Africa. It’s made from bottle caps!
Last, but not least, is the Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom that has decorated their entrance arch for Christmas. There’s just something that puts a smile on our face seeing a big-eyed frog look at us while surrounded by Christmas garland!
What’s New on Animal Kingdom’s Discovery Island
If you’re in Animal Kingdom and need information on dining
, you can open up our website 🙂 or you can stop at this stand outside Terra Treats for information.
In addition to the Christmas decorations above, Creature Comforts (Starbucks) is now serving a Pistachio Honey Croissant. We also spotted the Thanksgiving Turkey Cupcake in the bakery case too (read our review here)! We suspect that will be replaced with a Christmas cupcake soon!
The Feeding Ground had plenty of the Pluto Popcorn Buckets, Mickey Ornament Steins, and Gingerbread Straws on the day we were in the park. We saw these items at other popcorn stands in the park as well.
Tiffins Kids’ Menu has a fun new update. Now the Kids’ Menu is a create-your-own-meal menu. Kiddos get to choose one entree and two sides (called selections here). The meals also come with milk, water, or apple juice. Your kiddo can add on a salad or fritter appetizer for an additional charge.
What’s New in Animal Kingdom’s Asia
Yak and Yeti Local Foods Cafe has “officially” added Rib Tips to the permanent menu
. Before, these were a long-running chef specialty item. We are happy to see these have made it to the official menu.
They are still working in the Asia area, so construction walls are up along the path in Asia.
Work also continues on Drinkwallah.
What’s New in Animal Kingdom’s Dinoland U.S.A.
A new All-Beef Hot Dog has been added to the menu at Dino Diner. Now the hard choice — Italian Sausage Hoagie or Hot Dog? Which do you choose?
What’s New in Animal Kingdom’s Pandora
We spotted a Pandora Conservative Initiative (PCI) Representative in Pandora walking around and answering guests’ questions about the plants and wildlife in Pandora. This was a first for us, have you seen a PCI representative in Pandora before? Let us know in the comments below!
What’s New in Animal Kingdom’s Shops? New Merchandise!
We were so excited about some of the merchandise we saw we already posted about it! Check out our post on the new line of Yeti merchandise, Light-up Princess Bows, Banshee Purses, and Disney Tails Merchandise for your puppy. Plus, we spotted MagicBands in brand new colors!
If you or your kiddo is looking for a Santa hat that is distinctively Animal Kingdom themed grab this Leopard Print Santa Hat!
Rose Gold alert! Do you like Belle as much as you like Rose Gold? Then this is the key chain for you!
If you know a journaler we found the perfect gift for them. This Rapunzel journal has some beautiful artwork in it, plus it’s pretty darn cool with the cover and bookmark — that’s Pascal!
Seriously, we can’t get enough of this bookmark!
To close out this post, we’ll close like we started — with decorations! This time they are of the trees and decor in Discovery Trading Company. We always appreciate the decorations in here, and the ornaments are all for sale in the store, so it’s a fun showcase.
You can also get your ornaments personalized here, which makes the ornaments extra special memories of your trip or gifts!
Be sure to follow us as we continue to update you on Christmas happenings around the parks as well as special events and eats for Mickey’s 90th!
