Guests preparing to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel for their vacation have, for five years now, had the option to choose from a variety of colors when selecting their complimentary MagicBands to wear during their trip. Disney World Annual Passholders have likewise had the option to select a new MagicBand as they purchase or renew their pass for the year.

Disney has just announced that more options for customizing MagicBands prior to arrival at Walt Disney World will soon be available for guests to choose from as they prepare for their trip via the My Disney Experience website.

Disney Resort hotel guests and new and renewing Annual Passholders will be presented with the option to upgrade from the typical complimentary solid-color MagicBand to one of more than 30 new MagicBand options. The pre-arrival purchase price will be $14.99 off the retail price you would find in the parks.

Prices will vary within the designs, but guests should also know that the complimentary MagicBands of solid colors will still be available for guests who do not upgrade to one of the new design options. Guests who DO choose to upgrade will want to know that the new designs can still be shipped to guests’ homes in the U.S. if ordered 11 or more days ahead of arrival.

Well, it’s about time. But I already ordered magicbands (and spent a lot) to get everyone a design. So I hope this isn’t an option before we go in October…so frustrating if you already shelled out the cash. I feel like you should get a credit if you decline your magicbands.
Arriving 29 May and declined new bands since we had some from last year. If these were to be available for our trip later this month, it would be fantastic!
Great idea, but for anyone who still finds it pricey, I can’t recommend Magic Your Band stickers enough. Have used them 3 times previously and they’re so durable. They send two stickers per order and I’ve never needed the second one. Easily lasts the two weeks even going in and out the pool. You can even upload and personalise your own designs.

I am arriving June 6th and so far I am have not been provided with the option to upgrade on the app. I will just have to keep checking and hope they don’t send me my current choice any time soon!

I would really like to see the upgraded magic bands. I think the 10.00 dollar amount would be a nice surprise as well. I am going in July of this year. Love the idea of new bands other then the plain colored ones.

Supposed to role out May 15th – that is what the Disney insiders are saying.
I am arriving June 13th; will they be available for that trip? Would seem to be a fairly easy option to initiate. I want a pretty, new non solid color Magic Band!!! Thanks DFB for all that you do for us Disney Fanatics!!
I was hoping this would be an option for my June 7th trip, but I already received the notification that they shipped our MagicBands. Seems earlier than usual, but I’m not sure I can read anything into that.

Justine, if you’re trip is some weeks or months out, it’s likely it will. You may want to call or chat with Disney World directly to inquire.
We have a trip planned in September, we have heard many rumors, so we called Disney. They said that the official start date is May 15th and as long as your in your window to customize your magic bands, you should be able to pick from the new magic bands. It is still so new she said that they don’t really know much more then that. Hope this helps!

Great News! When it launches, the offer will be available for previously-booked and newly-booked Disney Resort hotel reservations, as long as that reservation is still within the pre-arrival MagicBand selection window and your complimentary MagicBands haven’t already shipped.
I called 3pm May 15th and they said there is no official word on when this will go active. we arrive in 2 weeks and for no I have declined the bands to ship waiting on this. Here’s hoping!

It took me all morning but I finally got it to work!
We just ordered ours! Elsa for me and Black Panther for my husband! At only $10 each, we were super excited to pick our faves. We’re going in October …cannot wait!
I was able to finally get them. BUT I had to call guest services twice to get it to switch to resort pickup since we check in May 29th. I finally put in OKW address for shipping. and it changed to pick up. but if under 6 days, you can order them. I was waiting for these so I declined them shipping bands of the regular ones….
I was so sad…tried to buy a Moana one for my daughter as a surprise. The site would not let me complete the purchase, I kept getting a pop up saying we are unable to process your request at this time. Retry or Dismiss.
My husband and I thought if we waited till later last night to buy it, that we would have a better time getting one – but when I signed in, it was no longer available. 🙁
Will keep checking to see if it will turn up again.
For me happened the same as happened to @Kaye G. I couldn’t buy because the process didn’t process and appear “Retry or Dismiss”. We will travel on 29th June for my son’s birthday and the magic bands for all my family no more are available. I’m so sad!!! I tried so hard and the program had some bug because I couldn’t complete the process. And the Brazilian’s Disney site is worst than the American one.
So sorry about that. It looks like only 10-12 choices left. I hope they restock soon, but that doesn’t help you, I know.

You should realistically only be able to order these upgraded magic bands 30 days out. That would allow less congestion and more availability of stock. Anyone ordering a year out is just adding to the problem… there is no reason to order that far in advance. My current trip is June 21st and I only got one(snacks band) of my 3 I ordered the other 2 were just the default grey even though I had a confirmation for Vader and the castle. My next trip is in October and I didn’t even attempt to order because there is no reason until I get closer to October so maybe September. Basically if you are more than 30 days out calm down and wait. It’s more fun to get them closer to your trip anyway.
Please hold off on the trigger if you have more than 30 days before you leave… ?
