If classic comfort dishes are what you crave while visiting Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, The Plaza Restaurant on Main Street, U.S.A. is a long-standing favorite amongst us here at DFB.
This hidden gem has seen some menu changes over the years, and now they’ve seen a pretty major menu shake-up!
Several popular dishes have left the menu for a new streamlined, all-day menu for lunch and dinner. Let’s have a look…
The entrees portion is now a mashup of items that were found on the Lunch and Dinner menus. The Lobster-Fried Green Tomatoes have survived (YAY!) as well as the Seasonal Soup, which is Tomato right now. The Plaza Burger will also cost you $2 extra now, as it went up in price from $20.00 to $22.00.
Noticeably absent are the many diner-style sandwiches that the restaurant was known for, like the Kentucky Turkey Hot Brown Sandwich. Also removed were some of the safe bets that the menu once featured, like the Grilled Chicken sandwich and (one of our favorites) the Fried Green Tomato Sandwich. Goodbye, old friend.
Sadly, the extreme milkshakes at the Plaza are no more for now! We’ll miss the giant creations the came up with, like the mega-sized Minnie Milk Shake. But not all is lost! Thankfully, the bottomless milkshakes are still available.
Meanwhile over on the Breakfast menu, not much has changed!
This is an interesting change-up and limits the available options found at this popular turn-of-the-century inspired spot for Lunch and Dinner diners. All-day menus are a fairly common thing around Walt Disney World these days and certainly can help cut a restaurant’s costs down. We’re glad to see a few items we enjoy made the cut (we still got Plaza Loaded Fries, y’all!). Menus can change frequently at Disney World so we’ll keep an eye on the Plaza and let you know of any menu changes as they happen!
We’ll continue to monitor the situation and bring you any updates we may find!

That is a weird menu. At first glance it looks like they don’t have any options for vegetarians or pescatarians; they should really rename the Bangers and Mash. But even that is a weird choice given how plant based meat can get very mixed reviews. I can’t see them not adding something that doesn’t have beef or pork in the future.
Jackie says
Yikes! So vegans and vegetarians need not apply? It’s a shame.
Amy Balaban says
The bangers and mash…is that the plant-based leaf logo next to it? I bet it’s the same exact dish that’s served at Rose and Crown. I think that’s a Beyond sausage.
Caryn says
Jackie, the Bangers and Mash is vegan and looks like the breakfast platter is as well. Look for the little leaf symbol.
I like the bangers and mash at U.K. in Epcot, but with the great vegan sausage and Friar Tuck’s Nook and the vegan dog at Casey’s, it doesn’t add much variety to MK plant-based offerings. Not complaining. Just observing.
Hoping we can still get the fried green tomato sandwich without lobster.
Jackie says
Oh! Thanks for pointing those out, Caryn! I lost faith too early. 🙂 I’m definitely a fan of the plant-based dog at Casey’s, but didn’t realize Friar Tuck’s had an option too.
Thank you again!

Didn’t know they did bangers and mash at Disney, hope it hasn’t been Americanfied, could proper go for a banger and mash after all the fries, burger and milkshakes I have. Now if only there was a Yorkshire pudding, that would really make WDW the most magical place on Earth.

We had a reservation at The Plaza for our March trip, but we changed it after seeing this new menu and it’s lack of vegetarian options for my wife.
Brandon says
That looks like really expensive quick service food. Boo.
Madeline George says
I agree with the other comments that this menu change is a bummer. Lack of options that aren’t carb loaded and rich; not exactly what you want for an evening in the park! Would have liked them to add some salads or veggie based options (that dont just automatically include pasta or bread!).

Not really connected to this report but… I am looking at making an ADR at MK, my son really want to eat at the Crystal Palace and be able to watch the fireworks at the same time! My question is, A. is this going to be possible? B. What time would you recommend making the booking for?
We are going at the End of July (yes I know Hot, Humid and Busy!!) Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks
DFB Sarah says
Karen, in our experience, the angle just isn’t great for viewing from inside Crystal Palace. You could potentially go out on the patio (where folks waiting to dine can wait) to see the show. But from the inside, there aren’t great views.
Pris says
Very disappointing that they have changed their menu. We have loved the tuna salad sandwich there for years & have reservations for our. Ext visit. Now I’m wondering if I need to go elsewhere.
Hannah says
Last time they took my favorite sandwich off and now my husbands…all done.
Erin says
Just canceled our reservation in March. Not a fan of the new menu at all. I am a vegetarian and am unimpressed by the one offering. The rest of the family also doesn’t like the changes. Thanks for the heads up and saving us the disappointment.

I love the chicken and strawberry salad. I’m really annoyed they’ve removed it. I think I shall have to cancel my ADR – although finding a replacement at only 9 days out is going to be difficult!
