Although we’ve been spending our time in Disney World to give you a full look at what’s happening in the parks, there has been SO MUCH going on over at Universal Orlando!
While Halloween Horror Nights has been canceled, the Tribute Store has been decked out in a whole new Beetlejuice room and lots of spooky treats. But, the Florida theme parks are having to keep up with the times by making modifications regularly.
Universal gave notice that some of its resort employees would be laid off for six months or longer (and quite possibly permanently). As the parks have reduced their amount of Team Members, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, Universal’s Aventura Hotel, and Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites will be closed through the end of the year.
However, the furloughs will be happening at Cabana Bay with 164 employees laid off, 200 individuals at Hard Rock Hotel, 475 Team Members at Portofino Bay, and 176 support staff. A statement from Loews Hotels has informed the WESH 2 News outlet that “Unfortunately, the global pandemic surrounding COVID-19 has forced Loews Hotels & Co to make some difficult decisions as it relates to our workforce… . Team Members are the backbone of our company…and rest assured, these measures were not taken lightly.”
As Universal Orlando and other Florida theme parks continue to make changes as they adapt to the current situations at hand, we’ll keep you updated on how the resort experiences are modified!
