It’s only September, but Christmas in Disney World is already on our minds.
We were checking out the Halloween treats around the parks today when we were suddenly bombarded by Christmas news — but we’re not complaining! We’ve got special holiday character dining and a beloved EPCOT festival to look forward to, but now let’s take a look at ALL of the holiday entertainment coming to Disney World this year!
Christmas officially hits Walt Disney World on November 6th and will stick around through December 30th. You can bet that during that time we’ll be seeing holiday decor, eating holiday treats, and buying holiday merch. But let’s talk about entertainment! For one, Santa Claus WILL be making pop-up, distanced appearances in all four parks AND in Disney Springs!
Cinderella Castle will also be getting a new festive look. This year, the usual Castle Dream Lights will be replaced with special projection effects to make the castle look like a whimsical Christmas sweater, a decorative piece with Christmas-y ornamentation, and MORE. You can get a preview in this video!
Of course, the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is returning as well and with it comes some entertainment. You’ll be able to catch JOYFUL! belting out a variety of Christmas tunes in the World ShowPlace and the Voices of Liberty will be weaving harmonious carols over at the America Gardens Theatre stage during the festival. Do note that EPCOT’s annual Candlelight Processional has been canceled this year.
There’s even some entertainment OUT of the parks. Though the Christmas Tree Trail won’t be put together in all of its glory in Disney Springs, guests will be able to find the elaborately-decorated trees scattered throughout the complex. Plus, Town Center, West Side, and The Landing will all see SNOWFALLS periodically too!
So, ya see, there’s LOTS to look forward to this holiday season, even without Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Stay tuned for more updates!

Uh…no Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party; No Candlight Processional; no more lights on Cinderella’s Castle….No thank you.

I wish people (not you guys) would stop whining about “lack of magic” or “making things worse”. Disney is doing the best they can with what they are allowed to do. They could very well not decorate the parks, the springs and the resorts, and not have the Festival of the Holidays and Food n Wine at all. But they decided to do a version of it to still make people happy. I was in Epcot a few days ago, and every Cast Member I encountered was just as nice as they always are. Even the Advent Health Employees taking everyone’s temperature were as nice as the CMs. The surprise Princess Calvacade and the Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto one was adorable and fun. I enjoyed not knowing it was coming until it happened. And i have to admit it was nice for a change to walk through World Showcase without deafening music blasting. Just go to the parks and keep an open mind. If you go in thinking it sucks, you’re right it will. But if you keep an open mind you might just be surprised as to how much magic you see.

WE get it! The biggest issue is that they have cut all or most of the things that people look forward to, AND THEY ARE CHARGING THE SAME PRICE FOR TICKETS! Maybe people wouldn’t complain so much if they reduced their ticket prices to align with what they are now offering.

Hey, AJ. Since both the Halloween Party and the Christmas Party have been cancelled, do any of your sources know anything about the Sorcerer’s of the Magic Kingdom party cards they usually give out during these events? Were they ever printed? Did the shut-down occur early enough for them to halt production?
DFB Sarah says
Robin, I don’t think we have heard this. Let me see if the on-site team can ask.
