Splash Mountain has been a pretty big deal recently!
Disney announced last year that Splash Mountain will be undergoing a BIG update, retheming it to be based on The Princess and the Frog. We know that this refurb has been fast-tracked, but we’re not sure WHEN it will kick-off! Well, we spotted what MIGHT be a hint today!
Today, we spotted a building permit that Disney filed for the address coded to Splash Mountain. The permit is with Disney’s internal construction company, Buena Vista Construction Company, and is listed to “Provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.”
Whenever Disney files a permit with BVCC, they have this description and it’s pretty vague. That could mean that this work could be pretty much anything — from work that’s starting on The Princess and the Frog refurbishment to minor and routine maintenance.
We’re inclined to think that this work doesn’t have something to do with the big refurbishment, though. At the same time, Disney filed a permit with BVCC for Pirates of the Caribbean. When permits are filed together, they are generally for similar work. So, the work could be leaning more towards the maintenance side of things.
As a reminder, we haven’t heard an official announcement for when the Splash Mountain retheme will begin or when the new version of the ride is expected to open. We’ll be keeping you updated on it though!
