When the clock strikes 1PM in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, almost everyone’s heart skips a beat.

It’s like a countdown to launch when it comes to snagging a boarding group for the popular attraction — Rise of the Resistance. Everyone wants to join the resistance and take a stressful journey to escape the First Order — sounds fun! So, leading up to the race to see who can tap “Join Boarding Group” fast enough, everything quiets down for a moment in the park.
We almost thought that the mannequin challenge had made a come-back when we were looking for a place to sip our cocktail today. The only thing moving around us was thumbs — and they were poised to claim their spot with the Resistance!

Disney kindly places a sign out front to remind you that you failed to secure a spot at 7AM
We’ve been working to master the art of claiming a boarding group so we have some tips to help you snag a spot. If you don’t get a boarding group during the 7AM distribution, you’ll be gunning for the second distribution at 1PM. People freeze for a bit and time almost stops because these babies go fast! And if you don’t get a boarding group, you don’t get to ride.

If you’re planning to attempt to get a boarding group, we have a few tips to help you out. Ensure that everyone in your party who wants to ride is in the park and linked to your Disney account, turn off wifi on your phone, and refresh the My Disney Experience App BEFORE 1PM.
Go go go!
At 1PM, it’s go time! Click “Join Boarding Group” and confirm that everyone who wants to ride is selected. Once you’ve got your boarding group you can join in the collective woohoo-ing that is taking place around you. It goes FAST, so be prepared!

After just a few minutes, time seems to resume at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as everyone heads to their next ride or meal! And, that’s when we can FINALLY find a seat!

I’m a bit confused. I thought the second distribution was at 2 PM like it says on the sign Disney puts out front of the entry gates to Hollywood studios. However the article says 1pm. Did they update the time to 1 PM?
Jnoel, Disney did change the second distribution to 1PM.
A customer service person last week said for only one person on the account to try, if more than one persons tries it causes it to kick it out. They also said, don’t stop to make sure everyone is selected that as long as one person is selected and gets it you are good. You will need to go to the gate person of the ride and let them know. Hope this helps.
We were just there last week and scored boarding passes on both of our two HS days… I would suggest to not to even waste time confirming your group, just let it select everyone! If you waste one second going through your party, you’ll miss out… it books SUPER fast!! On our second day, I accidentally clicked something other than “join” and by the time I got back to main screen, it was full… luckily we got in at the 1:00 opening!
