A Disney World ride has reopened EARLY!
Sometimes, Disney will shut down an attraction for some spiffying up. That’s what happened to Kali River Rapids, which closed in January for its typical winter maintenance. It was scheduled to reopen on April 2nd (and that’s what Disney’s official refurbishment calendar still says!), but shh: we’re gonna let ya in on a little secret. Kali River Rapids is ALREADY back open!
Now, you’re not gonna see this listed anywhere — in fact, the wait time isn’t even showing up on the My Disney Experience app yet. But you can go for a spin (pun intended!) on Kali River Rapids RIGHT now if you wanted to. And that’s exactly what we did! We joined the 35-minute wait and prepared to get soaked.
The line started a little ways down the path in Asia, to allow for social distancing. It seemed like plenty of people were eager to get a splash on this toasty day!
We snaked through the normal queue, through the temple…
…and back outside.
Then, after loading onto the raft, we were ready to go!
Social distancing seems to be spaced out with at least 1 seat between groups. We had 2 seats separating us from the party next door!
As for the ride: nothing’s changed! But we’re happy to see it back up and running after its seasonal maintenance.
The ride officially reopens April 2nd, but hey! Hop on a few days early and get a break from those HOT afternoons. We’ll keep bringing you the latest Disney news and updates, so stay tuned to DFB!
