Review: A Chocolate-Raspberry Combo Gets a Dark Side Upgrade in Disney World

And it’s already been a REALLY busy day. We’ve been snackin’ on popcorn and churros, checking out new merch, and taking in all the details about the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel. But the party is just getting started, friends! And we stopped by Backlot Express to check out a brand-new snack up for grabs.

Introducing…the Dark Side Chocolate Creation! For $5.99, you’ll get a melted milk chocolate mousse dome with raspberry mousse, topped with slivered almond spikes. The whole things sits atop a chocolate shortbread cookie base! And not only does that sound tasty…but it LOOKS awesome. We’re totally getting a creepy, Darth Maul-inspired vibe here.

So let’s dig in! We really enjoyed the chocolate shortbread base. It complimented the other flavors and wasn’t too sweet! But what we would have liked to see more of was that raspberry mousse. There wasn’t too much of it, and it was overwhelmed by the chocolate mousse!

Okay, we’ve gotta talk about the glaze. We’ve got 2 types: a red mirror glaze icing and a black mirror glaze on top of that. The glaze has a jelly-like consistency, but it’s not at all off-putting! And we couldn’t detect a taste from it, either — so it seems like it’s just there for looks.

This is a nice, light dessert that isn’t too chocolatey! If you’re a mousse fan, you’ll want to give it a try. Otherwise, you may wanna pass and opt for some other galactic goodies.
