It’s Disney World’s birthday, everyone!!!
Disney World is the big 5-0 today and we are ready to celebrate! We’re checking out new shows, merchandise, rides, and more. Oh, and FOOD, of course! There are a TON of new food items around the parks and hotels for the 50th, and we’re trying it all. Over in Magic Kingdom, there are a few new items that honor a former Fantasyland ride!
We’re at Friar’s Nook to try out their new items for the 50th anniversary — and all of these are themed after Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride!
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride was an opening day attraction in Fantasyland. It was a dark ride inspired by Disney’s 1949 movie The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. The ride closed in 1998 and was replaced by The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
So, it only makes sense to honor a ride that was there on opening day 50 years ago! And Disney is doing that through food.
The first item is The Toad Burger!

This is a brat burger served on a bun with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and American cheese. It’s served with a side of tater tots.
This burger was SO good! It tastes like a typical brat, which it is, but it was cooked very well. The pickle, tomato, and lettuce all tasted very fresh, and they were nice and crisp. Honestly, we felt a little weird eating Mr. Toad’s face…but we got over it because it was so delicious.
We liked this burger more than the average Disney World burger (like the ones you get over at Cosmic Ray’s in Magic Kingdom), and it has such a fun theme as well! You can get the burger for $12.99 at The Friar’s Nook.
Next up, we have the Mr. Toad Dome Cake!

This treat is a peanut cake with chocolate-peanut butter mousse and salted caramel on top. Uh, YUM! We can’t wait to sink our teeth into this one!
The chocolate-peanut butter mousse was the star of this cake! It was smooth and full of flavor. There was a little bit of crunch in the peanut cake, which we thought was a perfect pop of texture for the otherwise soft dessert. We didn’t love the gelatin coating over the treat (all the red and yellow stuff on top), but there wasn’t a ton of it.
If you want to give it a try, the Mr. Toad Dome Cake is $7.99. And finally, we have The Wild Ride!

This is a frozen sour apple, blue raspberry, and apple slushy topped with a black licorice wheel — to look like the wheels that were on the ride! The most prominent flavor in this slushy is sour apple, with cherry coming in close behind.
There was too much whipped cream for our taste, but overall we really enjoyed the drink and thought it was a great cold beverage for these hot Florida days. You can experience this wild ride for $5.99 today!
If you’re a big Mr. Toad fan, or just want to taste these new items, head on over to The Friar’s Nook! And, stay tuned to DFB as we try all of the new 50th anniversary food around Disney World.

The Mr. Toad sandwich looks great and fun, but the burger inside looks undercooked and processed. For 12 bucks, no thanks…. From the pictures, I don’t even want to taste is.
