Throughout the year, rides close at Disney World for refurbishment. These closures can last days, weeks, and months.
But today, a ride that just had a months-long closure for refurbishment is finally back up and running again. So let’s Zipptiy-Doo-Da over to Magic Kingdom and check it out!
In case you haven’t figured out what ride we’re referring to, it’s Splash Mountain, which is officially open again to Disney World guests! So if you’ve been missing the adventures of Br’er Rabbit and all his friends, they’re back (at least until the attraction gets its new Princess and the Frog theme).
Splash Mountain was originally set to reopen on February 11th, but when the day finally arrived, the attraction remained closed! It seems like Disney needed an extra day to make sure Splash Mountain was ready for some splashin’.

No splashin’ yet!
The next day, February 12th, we checked My Disney Experience and saw that Splash Mountain was open! At around 10AM, the wait time was listed at 25 minutes. (And we have a feeling that wait time will only increase throughout the day!)

Check it out — it’s finally open! We can practically smell that classic Splash Mountain water through the screen.

It’s BACK!
By 10:30AM, the wait time was already up to 40 minutes. This is one of the more popular Magic Kingdom attractions, so expect the line to get pretty long as the day progresses.

Lookin’ for trouble, or a good time?
Disney has not revealed when Splash Mountain will close for its big re-theme, but for now, the old ride is still there and running. So hop on before it goes away forever! In the meantime, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on all ride closures and reopenings, so check back with us often!
