Whether you love or hate them, live-action films have been a BIG thing for Disney in the last few years.
Disney has recreated popular movies like Mulan, The Lion King, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast into live-action versions, and there are even more on the horizon, including live-action films and even sequels. One of these upcoming movies is Pinocchio, and today we got a sneak peek into the film!
Pinocchio is a live-action version of the 1940 Disney animated film, starring Tom Hanks as Geppetto, with Robert Zemeckis directing. In case you didn’t know, Hanks and Zemeckis have worked together on Oscar-winning projects like Forrest Gump and Cast Away, so they could be a winning combo!
This live-action remake will be released straight to Disney+, scheduled for September 2022. We haven’t seen any trailers yet, but today we got a little sneak peek at Geppetto and Pinocchio!
Check out this FIRST LOOK at Tom Hanks as Geppetto! The film will also star Benjamin Even Ainsworth as the voice of Pinocchio, Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy, Luke Evans as The Coachman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, and Keegan-Michael Key as “Honest” John.

Walter Biscardi says
I have really enjoyed the live-action remakes except The Lion King. That was a shot-for-shot, unneeded remake. There has to be a reason to make a new version and that means adding your own take or updating the story. I think the best adaptation has been Guy Ritchie’s ‘Aladdin’ with the much more fleshed-out storyline, Jasmine is more than just arm candy for Aladdin and Will Smith’s Genie brings much more human emotion to the role. Emily Blunt’s Mary Poppins is absolutely brilliant for today’s audiences and the reinvented Mulan was fabulous. As long as the remake is not a shot-for-shot story, they can be interesting. I never would have picked Tom Hanks for Gepetto but that man can do anything. 🙂
