When we say “cranberry,” what do you think of? Maybe thoughts of cranberry sauce being served with your Thanksgiving turkey come to mind? 🦃 Or you think of a holiday recipe with cranberries, like a Cranberry Christmas cake? 🎄 If cranberries bring the holidays to mind, Disney’s returning snack might be a little…surprising to you!
Disney has released many snacks all over the parks to celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. The celebration lasts 18 months and we’ve already seen some of the 50th Anniversary treats that were originally announced disappear and be replaced with new ones. Back in March, we saw the Seven Dwarfs Specialty Cones disappear from Storybook Treats, and then return with a new flavor! But recently, we were intrigued to find that an OG Seven Dwarfs cone is BACK with some not-so-summery flavors!
So far, we’ve only seen 3 out of 7 of these Seven Dwarfs treats — the Caramel and Chocolate Espresso Doc Cone, the Cranberry and Vanilla Grumpy Cone, and the Chocolate Barqs Root Beer and Vanilla Sneezy Cone.
During mid/late June of 2022, we found that the Grumpy cone was back in stock!
This snack features Cranberry -Vanilla soft-serve in a cone with the chocolate belt buckle and a chocolate face of, of course, Grumpy. When it was first released back in November of 2021, the choice of a Cranberry flavor TOTALLY made sense. After all, it was released just a few weeks before Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays. You could totally see why cranberry would make sense at that time (even though it is Florida, which means it’s about 1000 degrees all the time — we exaggerate, but you get the idea 😉 ). We even saw cranberry ice cream released at Salt & Straw back in November of 2021, again as part of The Friendsgiving Series right before Thanksgiving.
But cranberry flavors in…June?! 😮 Hmmm…that might be something you’re not quite expecting!
But it might be something you’ll want to try anyway! It’s such a refreshing snack, which is perfect for the Florida heat. The tart cranberry with the vanilla soft serve works SO well together.
When we had it back in November of 2021, we found that neither of the flavors were overpowering or super strong, so you didn’t even need to really be a big cranberry fan to like it. So maybe this cranberry treat has finally escaped its typical Thanksgiving and holiday limitations! You go cranberry soft serve! Step outside the box others have put you in! 🥲

It’s back!
The cone is fresh and crunchy and the white chocolate is the same as the previous cones we’ve had. Here’s a pro tip, though: this one seemed to melt faster than the others, so EAT IT FAST. When we had it in June of 2022, a Cast Member even warned us that the ice cream was more liquid-y (could be due to the heat advisory in Disney World that was in place) and we were also given a bowl.
Disney is getting ready to celebrate “Halfway to the Holidays” with some big news and treats, so maybe this was an early addition to the bunch? It wasn’t specifically listed on Disney’s list of Halfway to the Holidays snacks but maybe some Cast Members were just getting in the spirit!
Previously the treats were gone because the cones were sold out and they had to wait to get more in stock. As much as we love the Grumpy cone, we’re hoping to see some of the other Seven Dwarfs Cones soon!
Regardless, we’re just so happy that this treat is back for us to enjoy.
Looking for other cold treats to tame the hot Florida weather? There’s Kakigori over in EPCOT, as well as the several different kinds of Dole Whip available all over Disney World. You can also sit down and enjoy some ice cream in places like Plaza Restaurant (or the ice cream parlor next door) and Beaches and Cream at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.
Looking for more ways to celebrate the 50th Anniversary? Disney is still dropping new collectibles for the occasion that you should check out, and we recently just found a way you can make a DIY 50th Anniversary treat for only $6!
Stay tuned to DFB, and we’ll let you know as soon as we find more 50th Anniversary treats and surprises!
