The Live-Action ‘Hercules’ Remake Just Found Its Director!

We love a good Disney movie. Who doesn’t?

Okay, it IS Buzz Lightyear…

We just got an update on the Zootopia series coming to Disney+, Pixar’s newest movie, Lightyear, was released this week, and Lilo & Stitch is celebrating a huge anniversary that is making us feel old! Disney’s been producing live-action remakes of some of their animated classics for a while now, and their next project just got a director!

Back in 2020, a live-action Hercules movie was announced. Disney still has not released too much information about the movie, but it just got a director! Guy Ritchie, who directed the 2019 live-action Aladdin, will be directing Hercules, according to The Hollywood Reporter!

The movie’s first draft was penned by Dave Callaham, who wrote Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and is being produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, the filmmakers behind some of Marvel’s biggest blockbusters like Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Captain America: Civil War.

As of right now, it’s unclear whether or not the live-action movie will have any of the musical elements from the 1997 movie, and the film is still looking for writers.

Disney’s other live-action remakes include The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Lady and the Tramp. There are also live-action versions of The Little Mermaid, Pinocchio and Snow White in the works!
