How do you officially mark the start of your Disney World vacation?
If you fly into Orlando, it might be when you first arrive at the airport. But for many who drive onto Disney World property, chances are it’s when you see one of the iconic roadside landmarks. You might know the big one as it’s kind of hard to miss — the Mickey Mouse Pylon off of Interstate-4. But, there was another, smaller marker to indicate that you were officially in Disney World — and as of today, it’s officially gone.
Guests who used the Tower of Terror billboard on the their drive into Disney World to mark the start of their vacation won’t be able to do so any longer, as the iconic sign has been removed overnight.
On our drive into the parks, we noticed construction equipment on the side of the road, and something immediately filled us with TERROR — the Hollywood Studios attraction advertisement was missing. Disney hasn’t shared any plans for a possible replacement sign or why they removed the Tower of Terror one in the first place.

Hmmm, this was a black eye for Disney. A major attraction sign in disrepair for years. Who is running this place any way. Very disappointed in how things are being run at WDW.

WOW! That’s a super-big change! That thing’s been there as long as I’ve been going to the parks, so not seeing it ever again is a real trip! I mean, I only ever got to see it in fleeting given how fast the buses moved, but still.

The thing that got my Disney vacation WAS The Magical Express. But now it is gone. Now I have to wait until I get to my hotel or see the Disney World entrance.

No WDW icon is safe from the wrath of Bob and the board!

So disappointed that they just didn’t fix it. Do they just want to be like every other meh theme park.

It’s like they are erasing the Michael Eisner/Frank Wells era from Disney history. Very sad when the roadside attractions are being dismantled for no good reason. Does this mean that the Tower of Terror is going to be re-imagined…. Walt… we need your help.
