Are you mourning the end of Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration?
It HAS been going on for a while (18 months), but we’ll admit that we’re going to miss the decorations and gold character statues, and we’re worried about what will happen to Cinderella Castle when the celebration ends on March 31st. More importantly, though, the fate of some of our favorite Disney World snacks is now left hanging in the balance. Now, one of our favorite 50th snacks has disappeared.
Way back in October 2021 when the 50th anniversary celebration began, we told you about the Glimmer and Shimmer Blondie, which ended up becoming one of our favorite 50th anniversary snacks! This snack was available at both Backlot Express and Fairfax Fare in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
This delightful blondie was made with “gooey toffee and toasted coconut blondie with salted caramel buttercream and festive gold nuggets.” It also turned out to be one of the cheapest 50th snacks — this huge blondie was only $4.49. We LOVED IT. But now, it’s disappeared from the menus at both Backlot Express and Fairfax Fare. NOOOOO!!!
However, is it REALLY gone? Because when we took a look at the latest Fairfax Fare menu, we noticed a “new” snack. The Toffee and Coconut Blondie is described as a “gooey toffee and toasted coconut blondie topped with salted caramel buttercream.” The price remains the same at $4.49.
The only thing missing from it being the Glimmer and Shimmer blondie is the festive gold nuggets. That’s it. So it seems like that delicious blondie IS sticking around, but it will have a different name. WHEW!
We did notice some changes to a few other 50th anniversary snacks, too. Remember the 50th Celebration Cookie at Rosie’s All-American Cafe in Hollywood Studios?
It’s made with strawberry jam and peanut butter-chocolate fudge on a pretzel shortbread cookie. Well, it looks like it’s being renamed to the Peanut Butter Cookie Sandwich, and getting a Fantasmic! chocolate piece added to it. Hint: we weren’t big fans of it when it was 50th anniversary-themed, but it’s worth a try.
We’ve got another one! The Glimmer and Shimmer Earl Grey Cupcake will stay on the menu simply as the Earl Grey Cupcake over at the Trolley Car Cafe.
All that it will be missing are the celebratory shimmery sparkles and the 50th anniversary gold coin. We’re still waiting to learn more about our other favorite 50th anniversary snacks, so we’ll let you know which ones do end up getting to stick around without all the extra festive touches. So stay tuned to DFB for more!
