We LOVE the After Hours Events in Disney World, and we know many of you do, too!
After Hours events come with free snacks and special character meet and greets, but the REAL attraction to buying a separate event ticket to be in a Disney park after dark is LOW wait times! We ran into a problem with ride wait times recently at a Disney’s Hollywood Studios After Hours Event, though, and we wanted to tell you about it just in case it happens to you!
The rides with the consistently highest wait times at Hollywood Studios are Rise of the Resistance and Slinky Dog Dash, so we were excited to ride them with lower waits during After Hours!
The After Hours Events at Hollywood Studios run from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM, but when you buy a ticket, you can get into the park anytime after 7 PM. That means you’re in the park for a couple of hours before it closes to daytime visitors. On the night we went, the wait for Slinky Dog Dash was 45 minutes at 8:30 PM, and though we suspected that would drop pretty quickly with daytime visitors exiting the park, we decide to wait to ride.
At 9:30 PM when the event started, Slinky Dog Dash — which often has the highest wait time in the park — was at 30 minutes. So, we decided to wait some more. However, Slinky Dog Dash went down after that, and was down for a couple of hours. Would we miss our chance to ride?
Luckily, this ride came back at about 11:30 PM, with a posted 20-minute wait time. We were able to ride with the short lines we were expecting, but we were worried! Our advice is that if a ride is a priority to you, ride it when it’s available and don’t wait — even during an After Hours Event. Ride can and do go down at Disney World for a variety of reasons, and you don’t want to miss your chance to save 10-15 minutes!
Here’s everything included with your After-Hours ticket!
