We love eating at the Disney World hotel restaurants! Don’t you?
Since the pandemic, Disney World hotels and restaurants have reopened one by one. Recently, we finally got word that one holdout is finally reopening, so we wanted to find out what your thoughts were about the changes that are coming to that restaurant when it returns. We asked and boy, did you deliver!
We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “What do you think of the new characters coming to 1900 Park Fare?” The results were pretty varied. We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!
Now, let’s dive into the results!
1. Against the change
It looks like we have a winner! Almost half of you expressed disappointment or sadness about the change in characters and preferred the old lineup (About 47% of you based on the responses). You feel that the new characters don’t fit the theme/atmosphere of the restaurant.
These two responses sum up those feelings best: “I prefer the characters that used to be there. More fitting with the theme than the new ones” and “Horrible. The room and remodel of the Grand Floridian is Mary Poppins theme. How could you not have Mary Poppins?”
2. Supportive of the the change
In second place, we found out that about a third of you are excited about the change, either because you see potential in the new lineup or because are are simply happy that the restaurant is reopening (About 33% of you based on the responses).
These two responses sum up those feelings perfectly: “I’m so excited it’s finally re-opening” and “Nice add, I’m on board.”
3. Undecided
In last place, we found that some of you expressed a mix of emotions or confusion about the change (About 20% of you based on the responses).
I think this comment sums it up best: “I feel like I’m confused. What do these characters have to do with each other & how do they fit into one theme?”
Those were just some of your thoughts on the new characters coming to 1900 Park Fare and we’d love to find out more from you! Until then, keep it right here for all the latest Disney news!

Disney really botched this one up! Please return to the original characters! I have absolutely no desire to return to the Floridian now!

Disney is forcing a fit of current characters that don’t fit the venue or fit together. Park Fare should remain as Mary Poppins, Alice and Winnie the Pooh. Many guests want the classics, not just what’s fresh.

What do these characters have to do with each other or the theme of The Grand Floridian?! The Grand is themed to the Victorian age. Both Mary Poppins & Alice in Wonderland are set in the Victorian age. Princess & the Frog is set in NOLA of the 1930s – not so much the Victorian age. If I had to guess I’d say Encanto is set in the 1930’s or early 40’s well outside the Victorian era. It seems Disney has completed abandoned any attempt to have lands, hotels or restaurants be accurately themed. I think they’ve lost the touch

It’s as if no one wants to enjoy the past. Your bring your children to the Floridian to experience the characters that, you, as a child enjoyed. In this crazy, fast world, we have to go with what’s shiny and new. I agree. These new characters do not belong at the Floridian buffet. Maybe the kids want these new characters. Also, I remember a more refined dining room. I believe we had white table cloths when we visited in the late 1990’s. I bet the food will not be what it was back then and the price will be outrageous.

Thanks for the continuing focus on this change. As someone who never got to visit 1900 when there were characters like Prince Charming, Mad Hatter, Fairy Godmother, and Cinderella’s stepmother and stepsisters – all characters you can’t meet anywhere else that I’ve ever heard of – I am in the ranks of the sad and disappointed. Mary Poppins and Alice are hard to meet, but you can occasionally find them at Epcot and very rarely, Mary Poppins at a character breakfast when other princesses are in short supply. I certainly sympathize with those who don’t find the new lineup ‘on theme,’ but – the new lineup isn’t even hard-to-find characters! One of the big points of character meals used to be that there were characters you might not be able to meet elsewhere. Even though we’ve never been, we won’t waste a table service at 1900 now. There’s nothing unique about the experience with these characters.

i do not like the character change

Disappointed. The only reason to go to 1900 Park Fare was for the characters – I mean, it’s yet another buffet. When the “mean sisters” got rolling, it was too fun. They will be so missed. Unlikely to return with current set of characters.

We ate at this restaurant and I can’t remember what the food was like, but we sure can remember the characters! It was Cinderella, Prince Charming, the stepmother and the stepsisters! The food wasn’t the important part; the character entertainment was the best ever! It was an experience we’ll never forget! I wouldn’t go with the new characters.
