This weekend is about to get really…interesting.
Why? Well, earlier this year, we warned you that Disney World might see some BIG crowds one random weekend in February thanks to a cheer competition, and now, the crowds have arrived. Yesterday, February 9th, we saw the highest Genie+ price we’ve seen in over a month, suggesting Disney expected more demand for the service that day. Plus, Super Bowl Sunday could bring in some folks. Today, we’re seeing another sign that things are going to be super busy — Park Pass reservations are completely GONE for all four parks today.
Disney’s Park Pass reservation system was put in place in 2020 after the park reopened following the COVID-19 pandemic. The system required visitors to make a reservation to one of Disney World’s theme parks ahead of time. That requirement was recently loosened for visitors with date-based theme park tickets (which is MOST visitors to Disney World), but some visitors still have to make those Park Pass reservations.
The following tickets still require a park pass reservation: student group tickets, sports and convention tickets, Florida Resident Disney Thrills tickets, Disney Military Salute Tickets, and some other ticket types. Well, if you fall into any of those ticket groups and have not made a park pass reservation for today, February 19th, you may notice that you are unable to make one. Park Pass reservations are completely sold out for all four parks.
Annual Passholders also need to make Park Pass reservations, except on those days deemed as “good-to-go” by Disney. However, today is NOT a “good-to-go” date, and Park Pass reservations are completely gone for Annual Passholders, too.
So what can you do if you can’t enter the parks today? Well, you can always visit Disney Springs, which offers plenty of shopping and dining options. You can also just plan a resort day if you’re staying at a Disney World hotel. If you’re at Disney World for the whole weekend, you might also want to make sure you’ve made Park Pass reservations for the rest of your trip if they’re required for your ticket type.
For those of you who don’t require Park Pass reservations to enter the park, we’ll just warn you now that the parks might be busy, so expect crowds and long lines for everything from attractions to food.
Pro tip: Mobile Order your counter service food early and set the time for when you actually want to eat. Trust us, this will save you a lot of time. You also might want to consider purchasing Genie+ to skip long ride lines and access rides’ Lightning Lanes (note that some rides are not included with Genie+, and you may need to pay for the Individual Lightning Lane option for those).
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the park pass reservation situation, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
