Mornings can be tough. If you’re the kind of person who likes to be at the Disney World parks right at opening, you’ll generally have to wake up pretty early to get there by rope drop.
If you’re at the park early, you can get a jump on the rides that usually have long lines. Unfortunately, mornings aren’t just hard for those of us who want to get there early; they can also be tough for the rides that you’re expecting to go on! It’s no fun getting to the park early and the rides you’re excited for aren’t up and running yet. But that’s what happened on the morning of September 7th in Magic Kingdom.
On any other day in Magic Kingdom, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is slow to start generally with a delayed opening, according to a Cast Member at Guest Services. However, on the morning of September 7th, that ride was ready to flow down the bayou while other popular rides struggled to open.
That morning Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and others were closed at the time of park opening. These are three of the most popular rides in Magic Kingdom, and their closures likely caused some changes in ride plans for rope droppers.
Eventually, Space Mountain opened, and the wait time almost immediately soared to 55 minutes. But Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train continued to be closed around 10:30 AM.
Sometimes, you can’t count on rides to open on time. Temporary closures may be due to technical difficulties until the Cast Members can solve the problem. If this happens to a ride that you were hoping to ride, we suggest checking out one of the many other rides in the meantime and checking the Disney World app for updates on the other ride.
The rides will typically start running later in the day, so keep your eyes on the app for those updated wait times. For more Disney news, keep following DFB!

This is so frustrating! especially when you bring friends and family for their first visit. It doesn’t make a very good impression. Don’t the employees get there earlier before the Rope Drop happens to test the rides? Or does Disney not want to pay them?
