Listen, it’s no secret that a Disney World trip can get pricey.
While it’s tempting to pinch pennies wherever you can, there are certain splurges that make your trip smoother, more memorable, and, let’s be honest, way more magical. Whether you’re a seasoned Disney pro or planning your first trip, these five splurges are worth every single penny according to Disney pros.
Lightning Lane for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
At EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is one of the hottest attractions, and for good reason. This indoor roller coaster combines next-level storytelling, mind-blowing visuals, and a killer soundtrack. But here’s the catch: the virtual queue can be tricky to snag, and the standby line can be LONG.
This is where purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane comes in. Yes, it’s an extra cost, but skipping the line for this top-tier attraction potentially lets you reclaim hours of your day, and trust us, this ride is worth it. Plus, who wants to spend their EPCOT day glued to the My Disney Experience app or stuck waiting in line?
Preferred Rooms at Value Resorts
If you’re staying at a Disney Value Resort like Pop Century or Disney’s All-Star Resorts, upgrading to a Preferred Room might seem unnecessary, but it can make a huge difference. These rooms are closer to the main lobby, dining areas, and transportation, which means less walking after long park days.
Imagine you’ve been exploring Magic Kingdom for hours, your feet are screaming, and you’re carrying bags of souvenirs. Would you rather trudge all the way to the farthest building on the property or take a quick stroll back to your room? That extra convenience is worth the splurge, especially if you’re traveling with kids or planning rope-drop mornings.
A Fireworks Cruise
If you’re looking for an unforgettable Disney memory, a fireworks cruise is where it’s at.
These private boat tours give you a VIP view of either Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom or Luminous The Symphony of Us at EPCOT. You’ll set sail on a chartered boat, complete with snacks and drinks, and enjoy a serene ride before stopping in the perfect spot to watch the show.
The best part? You avoid the massive crowds that gather in the parks. Instead of fighting for a good spot hours in advance, you can kick back, relax, and soak in the magic from the water. It’s a splurge that feels like a true luxury, and it’s perfect for special occasions or just treating yourself.
Dinner at California Grill or Topolino’s Terrace During Fireworks
When it comes to combining fine dining with Disney magic, California Grill and Topolino’s Terrace are in a league of their own. These restaurants offer stunning views of Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, making them ideal spots for catching the fireworks without the hustle and bustle of the parks.
California Grill, located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, serves up elevated dishes like oak-fired filet of beef and sushi while offering floor-to-ceiling views of Happily Ever After. Over at Disney’s Riviera Resort, Topolino’s Terrace pairs Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with a breathtaking view of EPCOT’s nighttime spectacular.
You’ll want to plan your reservation for about an hour before the fireworks start. You’ll have time to enjoy a leisurely meal and then step out to the viewing area (or enjoy the view from your table) when the show begins.
Rideshares When the Lines Are Wild
Disney’s free transportation system is a great perk, but it’s not always the most convenient – especially at peak times. If you’ve ever faced a massive line for buses, the Skyliner, or monorails at park closing, you know what we’re talking about.
Here’s a solution you might want to consider: take a rideshare like Uber or Lyft. Yes, it’s an added expense, but it can save you so much time and stress, especially if you have tired kids (or adults!) in tow.
For example, instead of waiting an hour for a bus back to your resort, you can hop into a rideshare and be back in your room in minutes. It’s also a lifesaver if you’re trying to make it to a dining reservation or park opening without cutting it close.
While it’s easy to get swept up in budgeting every penny of your Disney trip, these splurges can elevate your vacation from good to unforgettable. Whether it’s skipping a long line, enjoying a stress-free ride back to your hotel, or watching fireworks in style, these are the moments you’ll look back on and smile.

My splurge would be an after hours program at Magic Kingdom or any other WDW park. It was worth the price for our sanity, snacks, and lack of crowds. Our photos were wonderful too!
V&A’s
Ride share for sure. When leaving magic Kingdom at end of night especially. We like Pop Century but that line for the bus at the end of the night if the rest of your party isn’t trying to stay to the last minute is torture.
Guardians is one we buy AND shoot for the virtual queue. Tron as well. Trons regular line is so boring. I don’t mind the GG queue as there is stuff to look at. Tron has big grey walls and that bassline that never stops. Love that soundtrack by Daft Punk but if they just played the whole soundtrack it would take the edge off.
