Disney California Adventure is adding a Coco attraction!

Disney California Adventure!
The new attraction was announced at D23 in 2024, and we have been itching for news ever since! The Coco ride will be located near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier in areas that are predominantly backstage currently. Now, after patiently waiting, we finally have more updates on the attraction!
Get ready because Disney is set to begin construction on the new Coco ride! According to the Orange County Register, Disney has submitted early plans to the Anaheim Public Works department to begin work on the attraction!

The construction will be “focused on a backstage area bound by Disneyland Drive, Katella Avenue, Downtown Drive, and the backside of the Incredicoaster.” Early parts of the construction will take place along Disneyland Drive, and it will impact sidewalks, street curbs, gutters, trees, landscaping, fencing, and more. The plans Disney shared still don’t show the outline of the new ride building, but it’s expected to be near Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta.

According to the OCR, “A backstage gate between Pixar Pier and Paradise Gardens will eventually serve as a passageway to the Westside expansion area of Disney California Adventure.” Guests will be able to cross the bridge passing over Disneyland Drive to get between Pixar Pier and the new expansions coming with the DisneylandForward project.

The company hasn’t announced an opening date or expected timeline for the attraction. The new ride will be a boat ride featuring characters, music, and more from the Pixar film.

Disney California Adventure
Disney California Adventure is going to go through some major changes in addition to this new attraction! The Monsters, Inc. attraction, Mike and Sully to the Rescue, will be closing permanently to make way for the new Avatar expansion!

The new expansion will feature a boat ride where you’ll explore new areas of Pandora in a “thrilling excursion that will bring all the action, excitement, and wonder of Avatar, taking guests all the way to the wide-open seas of Pandora.” Disney also said that “This is going to be a dynamic, intense and emotional experience on a grand scale that we know our guests will love.”

Mike and Sully to the Rescue will close in early 2026 to make way for the new land. As always, be sure to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more Disney news and updates.
