Okay, there is a LOT of construction happening in Disney World. In the parks, Magic Kingdom is getting a new expansion and a new land, plus two rides are getting updated. In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, an area is getting updated, and a new land is being constructed. In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a new land is on the way. Yep, there are construction walls EVERYWHERE.
Disney World hotels are also undergoing quite a bit of construction right now. In fact, recently, a total of FOUR hotels have announced closures due to refurbishment and construction work.
Over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Contempo Cafe, the hotel’s quick service dining location, is currently under construction. The construction is expected to last through mid-October. However, the work will take place between 2 PM and 5 PM each day, so it shouldn’t affect peak dining hours. However, you may hear construction noise during this time.
Note that if you’re ordering food at this time, you might want to consider using Mobile Order to get it to go if you don’t want to hear construction noise while you’re eating.
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will also be undergoing some refurbishment work. The Cabanas leisure pool will be closed from August 17th through August 24th for routine maintenance. Note that this isn’t the main pool at the resort, which will remain open, along with the other leisure pools located there.
Disney’s Pop Century Resort is going to have quite a bit of construction happening. Not only are the rooms at Pop Century getting an update (construction will last through February 2026), but the hotel’s lobby is getting a “retro-inspired refresh.“ The lobby work will last through October 2025, so keep that in mind if you have a stay booked there.
Finally, you can expect to see some construction work happening over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Disney World announced that the rooms at Kidani Village will be undergoing refurbishment from October 2025 through May 2026, while Jambo House rooms will be refurbished from May 2026 through January 2027. In addition, the Zebra Trail terrace work is currently scheduled to end in September 2025.
During these refurbishments, you can expect to see and hear construction during the day. If you plan on spending any time at your hotel during the day, you may want to avoid these hotels until their construction is complete.

It absolutely affects where I will stay. It takes away from the magic that you pay a lot of money for.
We stayed at Pop during their food court refurbishment and it was very inconvenient. We ended up walking to AofA for many of our meals.
Never again
Construction does affect our plans because one person in our party is neurodivergent and sensitive to noise. We stayed at the GF when it was under construction once, let management know about this in advance and they placed in a room far from the noise. Construction doesn’t stop us from visiting, but we have to plan around it.
For the price and the construction being done, staying at any WDW lodging is out of the question.
In addition to the attractions closures, it is not worth going to WDW this year. Maybe next year
