If you’ve been planning Disney World trips for as long as we have, it’s safe to assume you probably still have a little trauma from the days when certain reservations felt straight-up impossible to get. Oh, are the times they are a-changin’…
While the process of waking up early at 6 AM ET 60 days out from your vacation is definitely still part of the Disney World planning steps, it’s not as daunting as it used to be. Believe it or not, a few of those “no-chance” reservations have quietly become WAY easier to snag lately. We’re going to go over four spots that used to feel completely out of reach, and why they’re surprisingly doable right now — albeit with some caveats.
From character meals to new lounges — these restaurants are easier to book than ever before!
Be Our Guest Restaurant
Located in Magic Kingdom, Be Our Guest Restaurant was once a super hard reservation to snag. Scoring a table at this Beauty and the Beast-themed restaurant wasn’t impossible, but always tricky. It makes sense — who wouldn’t want to dine inside Beast’s castle? Grabbing a reservation here was so serious that people would plan entire trips around it.
But things have changed a lot. Between the shift to a prix-fixe menu, price increases, and many guests deciding Be Our Guest is good enough as a “one-and-done” experience, demand has cooled significantly. Reservation availability is much more common these days, and sometimes you’ll even be able to find same-week availability.
It’s still a popular restaurant (especially since Magic Kingdom is a tad limited when it comes to sit-down dining), but it’s no longer the impossible reservation it once was.
Oga’s Cantina
Remember when getting into Oga’s Cantina at Disney’s Hollywood Studios meant stalking the My Disney Experience app for weeks? Those days are mostly over.
Capacity adjustments and the 45-minute time limit have really impacted availability, making it a lot easier to visit during a Disney World vacation. Additionally, the novelty has kinda worn off, especially since its clone exists over on the West Coast at Disneyland. And over there, Disney doesn’t even use reservations anymore.
Back at Disney World, you can often grab a reservation with normal planning now, and same-day availability isn’t uncommon either. That said, walk-up waitlists can still fill quickly during peak seasons and times, so don’t figure that you can just show up and get seated.
GEO-82
EPCOT’s newest lounge — GEO-82 — opened more recently than other entries on this list, and it had been notoriously difficult to get a reservation until recently. Everyone wanted to check out the brand-new EPCOT adults-only lounge experience, and reservations disappeared instantly. However, like most new things at Disney World, time has been kinder to those looking to snag a reservation.
This Spaceship Earth-themed restaurant only caters to adults, so folks with kids aren’t inclined to book any times. And now that the initial frenzy has cooled, advance reservations are much more attainable — especially if you’re flexible.
We have to warn you, though, that lounge seating — specifically — is still a serious challenge. That portion remains one of the tougher EPCOT bookings to land. GEO-82, in general, won’t be the easiest EPCOT reservation either, but it’s a far cry from the impossibility it was last summer.
Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera
Leaving the theme parks and heading over to Disney’s Riviera Resort, Topolino’s Terrace has become a noticeably easier reservation to get…with one big catch.
Fine dinner at Topolino’s Terrace is surprisingly manageable these days. You can often find evening reservations without too much stress.
Breakfast, though? Good luck. The Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends character dining experience is still an absolute nightmare. It remains one of the most competitive reservations at Disney World, and it disappears almost instantly when booking windows open.
So while dinner is finally doable, breakfast still requires some intense planning.
A lot of these changes come down to time, pricing shifts, and guest trends. We’re always following the latest Disney World trends and updates — especially when it comes to dining — so keep it posted right here at the Disney Food Blog to stay in the know!
