Happy Halloween, everyone! We’re at the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom, and we’re enjoying everything the party has to offer, including some spooky entertainment, special characters, trick-or-treating, and, OF COURSE, the food.

Graveyard Hot Chicken and Waffle
A ticket to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party gets you access to exclusive food and drinks that are only available at the party. Well, we’re visiting Sleepy Hollow Refreshments to check out some party-exclusive snacks, and we’re here to give you our honest review of ALL of them.
You’ll find some ghoulish delights lurking at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, including some snacks inspired by the Haunted Mansion. We’re starting with one such spooky snack, the Doom Buggy Dumplings for $8.99, which are chicken dumplings with red miso gochujang sauce, furikake, and chili threads. Ooh, SPICY.

Doom Buggy Dumplings
Honestly, our first bite didn’t wow us because these are essentially the same chicken potstickers you can find over in Adventureland, and the sauce leaned a little too heavily into soy sauce territory at first taste. But give it a few more bites. Once we got used to it, the flavor really opened up into this great chili-oil situation. It’s spicy, but not scorching, and — this is the important part — the heat doesn’t build as you keep eating. You get hit with the spice level up front, and it just stays there, bite after bite. If you like spicy food, this is a great pick. If you don’t, consider yourself warned.

Dig in!
Not to be outdone, you can also grab the Graveyard Hot Chicken and Waffle for $13.29, made with Nashville hot chicken strips, blue cornmeal waffle, and pickle ranch. Um…pickle ranch? Okay, Disney, we see you.

Graveyard Hot Chicken and Waffle
This one blew us away. Our reporter admitted they are not usually fried chicken and waffles kind of people — it tends to read as too oily and too rich — but that wasn’t the case here at all. The chicken tenders come coated in a beautifully balanced Nashville hot honey with just a touch of smokiness, never overdone. Unlike the dumplings, the heat here does build: your first bite is mild, but by the last one it’s genuinely got some kick.

The spice on these builds!
We have a medium spice tolerance and were fine without a drink, but you may want one nearby. The flavor is robust and packed with chili punch without tipping into overly smoky territory, and the fresh scallions on top were a really nice touch. As for the waffle, yes, it’s blue cornmeal, though it reads almost black on the plate. It comes out soft, warm, and moist rather than crisp. The chicken stayed crispy, and nothing got soggy. The true star of the dish, though, is that pickle ranch. It’s wonderfully creamy with a zingy vinegar bite.

Spicey!
We also grabbed the Hatbox Ghost Pop, which is chocolate crumbs layered with chocolate mousse and dulce de leche, topped with blue crispy pearls and a chocolate piece for $6.29. Would Hatbox Ghost approve, though?

Hatbox Ghost!
The push-pop format makes it a little awkward to actually eat, but the payoff is worth it — super creamy, super delicious, and a genuinely generous portion size.

Delicious!
It might be a touch overpriced for what you get, but the cute hatbox-inspired presentation goes a long way toward winning us over. Overall, a treat we really enjoyed.

Very sweet!
If you’re feeling like you need just a little extra something sweet, you can also get the Pumpkin-spiced Funnel Cake Sundae here for $8.99. It’s a pumpkin funnel cake topped with pumpkin gelato, whipped cream, pumpkin-spiced caramel, candy pumpkins, and sprinkles. We had this last year, and let’s just say that if you love pumpkin spice, do yourself a favor and order this treat. It’s really the best of both worlds: funnel cake and pumpkin spice.
We’re not done yet, though! We’re eating and drinking our way around Disney World for the fall and Halloween season, so stay tuned to DFB for more reviews.
