While we often talk about just how much is changing and going on inside the Disney World parks, with so many attractions being built and new lands under construction, there’s also a lot happening with the resort that’s happening outside the park gates.

Cake Bake Shop in Disney World Faces Multiple Lawsuits from Former Employees

The Cake Bake Shop, originally founded in Indiana, currently has a popular location at Disney World’s Boardwalk. This location opened in 2024 and quickly became a fan-favorite stop known for its iconic cake slices and other desserts.

Local Unions Warn That Disney World’s Property Tax Lawsuits Could Raise Prices in the Community

On April 2nd, more than 100 residents attended a town hall at the Taft Community Center focused on the impact of property tax lawsuits filed by the Walt Disney Company and the rising costs for working families.

Hosted by UNITE HERE and the Orange County Classroom Teachers Association, the event gave speakers and community members the opportunity to raise concerns about Disney’s lawsuits against Orange County, seeking refunds of property taxes that fund public schools.

NEWS: Disney World Files 15 Lawsuits Against Orange County

According to WFTV9, Disney World has filed 15 lawsuits against Orange County over property tax assessments, claiming excessive taxation.

The lawsuit alleges that the Orange County Property Appraiser, Amy Mercado, failed to comply with Florida law and adopted appraisal practices that resulted in assessments exceeding the market value of the properties.

UPDATE: Disney Waives Right to Arbitration In Wrongful Death Lawsuit

We have an update on the wrongful death lawsuit filed against The Walt Disney Company, and it seems Disney may be ready to change their initial thoughts on how they wish to proceed.

Just days ago Disney was making a motion to move this lawsuit to arbitration citing terms and conditions that the plaintiff had agreed to when signing up for a Disney+ streaming service trial years ago, but now it seems that they’re looking to move things along within a courtroom instead.

Annual Passholders Claim They Were Misled by Disney

Things with Park Passes and Annual Passholder requirements are changing, but that doesn’t mean the Park Pass lawsuit brought by Disney World Annual Passholders against Disney World is over.

The lawsuit was filed back in October of 2022 and essentially argues that the Platinum Pass and Platinum Plus passes promised “no blockout dates.” But, according to the Passholders, the Park Pass system has essentially created blockout dates for Passholders and modified their contracts with Disney. The Passholders also argue that Disney is prioritizing regular ticket purchasers to make a bigger profit, “abused a global pandemic,” and is “taking advantage” of their loyal passholder fans. So what’s happening now? Well, there have been some big developments.
