The only small dilemma, though, was that it was operating with limited hours (for the weekends only) upon reopening. But now, that’s changed! [Read more…]
Have you long loved stopping by Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion and ordering a Rice Cream, Lefse, Berry Cream Puff, or School Bread?
And if so, were you bummed out these past several months while the Bakeri was closed for refurbishment? Because even though you could purchase select offerings at the temporary Midnattsol Bakeri kiosk, it just wasn’t the same… right?
Well, be bummed no more! Because Kringla Bakeri og Kafe has reopened as of today! The refurbishment is over, and we can now see the results of the work.
Although, before we could do that, there was a Viking Guard standing by, protecting Kringla into the afternoon of today’s reopening!
But at last it was time for the Opening Ceremony with the Cast Members! [Read more…]
Velkommem to Midnattssol Bakeri in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion!
This little kiosk (which may look familiar to fans of the Epcot Food and Wine Festival) has some big shoes to fill. You see, it’s the spot for Norwegian snack goodies while Kringla Bakeri og Kafe is undergoing a fairly extensive refurbishment. [Read more…]
I love the riches of tradition that take place throughout Epcot during Holidays Around the World.
And one of my favorite holiday rituals is learning about how others celebrate this important time of the year.
We all know about Santa in the United States and other countries, Père Noël in France, and Father Christmas in the UK. Today, I thought we could take a look at some of the other Christmas traditions celebrated in the lands of World Showcase. And of course, we’ll be snacking along the way as well. 🙂
You know how I love finding out about new eats and treats all over Disney World and Disneyland, right?
Well, I can tell you it has been keeping me pretty busy lately! We’re talking Caramel Sticks in Disneyland’s Candy Palace, and Baked Lobster Mac and Cheese at the Beastly Kiosk in Disney’s Animal Kingdom (oh, and umm… poop candy at the new Zuri’s Sweets Shop, while we’re at it). We’ve got two new flavors of ice cream over at L’Artisan des Glaces, and… the list goes on and on!
And it’s super fun — it really is. But eating NEW things all the time means that I never have time — or stomach space — for my old favorites. Well, today I wanted to re-try two of my favorite snacks over at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in Norway’s Epcot. After all, they’ve both gone through some changes since we last reviewed them, so they ARE technically “new” in some ways!
So recently I stopped back in for [Read more…]
It’s about time to check in at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe and see what’s new!
The quaint little bakery and sandwich shop may be small in size. (Seriously. Tiny.) But it’s big on offerings!
In fact, it features some of the most unique and beloved treats in all of Disney World for many guests.
In addition to some fantastic sandwiches, there are some pastries here that have achieved Disney Food Blog legendary distinction…
New! Viking Mousse
But recently, I stopped into the shop to see what was new (updating our Disney Food Blog Guide to Epcot Snacks, of course!), and a different treat caught my eye.
And how could it not? I mean, look at the awesomeness that is Viking Mousse.
There was no way I could walk away from this. C’mon, people. It has HORNS! I couldn’t wait to bust inside and check it out.
And in truth, this is actually a fairly simple dessert: a chocolate mousse dome, twin tuile cookie horns, and a garnish of toasted coconut.
But once you get a fork into it, you realize [Read more…]
On this glorious Friday, I thought we’d highlight another beloved snack in Epcot’s Norway — the Rice Cream!
Sadly, I haven’t had this treat for AGES, so I was excited to have the chance to CHOMP on this while I was doing research in December for The DFB Mini-Guide to Epcot Snacks e-Book! You can find it at Norway’s Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe!
Rice Cream is probably not as popular as the school bread we featured a couple of weeks ago, but it’s definitely in the running for one of the most classic Epcot snacks around.
This not-too-sweet delight consists of a light rice cream pudding topped with [Read more…]
A huge thank you to Katie Drake for offering to document her family’s experience at the Akershus Princess Storybook Dinner in Disney World’s Norway Pavilion! I can’t wait until you see her pic of her daughter hugging Snow White…classic. Take it away, Katie!
Character meals are some of the toughest reservations to come by in Walt Disney World, particularly breakfasts. If the princess breakfasts are all booked and you can’t be first in the park, or you just want to sleep past 6 a.m. on your vacation, a character lunch or dinner is a great option. Akershus is one of the few restaurants at Disney that offers [Read more…]
Welcome to the final post in our Walt Disney World Bakery Throw Down challenge! We’ve showcased four bakeries since mid-December, and today we proudly present Epcot’s Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe!
Kringla Bakeri is located in the Norway pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase. Walk through the door and you’ll find yourself in a quaint, Scandinavian kitchen — well, [Read more…]
