Today, we are sharing with you some brand new treats that we’ve discovered at one of our favorite spots in Animal Kingdom, Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery!
But they’ve just debuted a couple more snacks that have me counting the days until my next Disney trip!
Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery
The fantastic new treats go beautifully with the already stellar (though limited) list that you could find there previously. Some of the items are available all day, while others are only available in the afternoon.
Let’s take a look at a couple of the new items!
First up — a pastry that is perfectly named for noshing at Animal Kingdom. That’s right, folks, we have Elephant Ears for you today.
The enormous pastries, made from puff pastry layered with a sugar filling, gets all beautifully caramelized and crunchy when they’re baked. And if that’s not enough, then the tips of the “ears” are dipped in chocolate. The crunch plus chocolate makes for a surprising, delicious texture.
Chocolate lovers clearly love this one!
By the way, they’re also served at Harambe Fruit Market until 11am if you happen to be back that way. At Kusafiri, they’re available all day.
African Spice Cake
After 11am, you can try the African Spice Cake, Kusafiri’s version of a coffee cake — but with some delightful twists on texture.
The cake is built on a crust of short dough. To that, they add a spiced coffee cake, and a layer of cream cheese filling, before topping it with more spice cake.
The top is encrusted with a thick layer of crunchy, spiced oatmeal streusel. It pairs wonderfully with the selection of Joffrey’s coffees available here.
What’s New — and What’s Missing
We have a few other things to tell you about!
To begin, there are no more single cinnamon buns or basic bagels at the walk up Kusafiri window. Instead, there’s a Warm Colossal Cinnamon Roll that’s family-sized. The mammoth pastry has a pull-apart consistency, and is served warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce, before it’s finished with white icing.
They’re also serving Chocolate Croissant Sticks — or Zebra Sticks — drizzled with white and dark chocolate stripes, like a zebra! It’s filled with tiny chocolate chips, too. We predict this will be a favorite addition to the lineup here in short order.
The extra menu items are most likely to make up for the fact that Tamu Tamu Refreshments is no longer open for breakfast at this time. You’ll find the popular counter service open from lunch until the park closes now.
Their breakfast sandwich can now be purchased at Kusafiri, but the yogurt parfait and french toast sticks seem to be gone for now.
French toast lovers can still find their favorite dish at Pizzafari, however.
We’ll have more updates from Animal Kingdom coming soon! In the meantime, what do you think of the new treats at Kusafiri? Let us know in comments which one you’ll be trying first!
