News: Breakfast with Santa at T-Rex Cafe in Disney Springs in December

We’re used to dining with friends at T-Rex Cafe.

Among our pals in this prehistoric dining joint are a Triceratops, a Wooly Mammoth, and a gigantic moving Octopus.

But for select dates in December, another friend — and his wife — will be joining guests at T-Rex in the Marketplace of Disney Springs. Because Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be the honored guests at Breakfast with Santa!

Typically, T-Rex only serves Lunch and Dinner. However, on December 17th, 18th, 22nd, and 23rd, T-Rex will host a breakfast buffet that will also feature easy access to Early Bird Shopping at the World of Disney Store (from 9 – 10 am), and the T-Rex Dino Store in addition to the chance to meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

The price is $32 for adults, and $20.50 for children ages 4-9 (children ages 3 and under dine for free). [Read more…]

Review: Dim Sum Brunch and Seasonal Cocktails at Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs

Even though Morimoto Asia has only been open for just over a year, in that time it has already debuted a few new offerings.

Since we first took in dinner at this signature restaurant located in The Landing of Disney Springs it has added Morimoto Asia Street Food, a Counter Service spot for casual and quick dining featuring more of Chef Morimoto’s Pan-Asian cuisine. And over the summer we tried the new Late Night menu, which is available starting at 10PM Sundays through Thursdays, and 11PM Fridays and Saturdays.

Now we’re back to check out yet another Morimoto Asia dining opportunity: the new Dim Sum Brunch! Dim Sum is a type of meal very popular in Asian cuisine featuring smaller plates so everyone can enjoy various items in one seating.

Before we dive into what’s on the menu, let’s go over some logistics: the Dim Sum Brunch is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30AM to 3:00PM, and the cost is $27.00 per guest. All brunch seating is upstairs at Morimoto Asia (including the 2nd floor outdoor area).

Guests ordering Brunch may also order off the regular menu. Also, guests dining at tables downstairs can order off the Brunch menu (though in an a la carte fashion). [Read more…]

Guest Review: Cinderella’s Royal Table Breakfast at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

Welcome guest author Sarah Gurung as she shares her character dining experience at Cinderella’s Royal Table in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Yay!!!

On my most recent trip to Walt Disney World, I wanted to plan lots of first experiences for myself and for my family, comprised of my husband and my five-year-old daughter. We booked our trip just before the 180 day mark, and I serendipitously found myself staring at an available Cinderella’s Royal Table breakfast Advance Dining Reservation (ADR) shortly thereafter. I couldn’t pass it up! In fact, over the next few months, I regularly checked back to see if we could get in even earlier when, low and behold, I was able to grab a pre-park opening ADR. Even better!

Cinderella’s Royal Table is one of those Disney World experiences that is truly exquisite. The setting is stunning, the food is delicious, and the entertainment is so fun — for kids of all ages, really.

Atmosphere

Let’s start with the beauty that is the restaurant itself. The check-in desk is toward the back of the castle on the right. This process was efficient, and we were quickly invited into the foyer of the castle for our Cinderella meet-and-greet. We found the foyer to be low lit but plumb full of details: shields, tapestries, and gorgeous lighting.

Guest Review: Walt’s — an American Restaurant in Disneyland Paris

Today, DFB welcomes guest author Jennifer Storelli with a table-service restaurant review from Walt’s in Disneyland Paris.

As an experienced Walt Disney World Resort fan but first-timer at Disneyland Paris, I had a difficult time selecting a table-service restaurant for dinner. The options ranged from character buffets, to a Wild West dinner show, to movie-themed restaurants, to upscale steakhouses, and more. Fortunately for me, I had until my arrival at my resort to make a decision, because I was not willing to pay for an international call to Disneyland Paris dining to make a reservation.

As my husband and I enjoyed the sites of Paris and made our way to the more familiar setting of Disneyland Paris, we decided we wanted an upscale venue to celebrate our last night of vacation and a taste of American food. Plus, when we read reviews that said Walt’s is an open-to-the-public version of the coveted Club 33 in Disneyland, we were sold.

News: Lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern Now Features All-You-Care-To-Eat Option

Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

A few changes have come to the menu at one of our favorite restaurants — and possibly yours, too — at the Magic Kingdom: Liberty Tree Tavern.

Liberty Tree Tavern is best known for its family-style All-You-Care-To-Eat, It’s-Pretty-Much-Thanksgiving-Year-Round dinner.

However, this Table Service spot serves lunch as well, though in an a la carte fashion, with popular choices that have included New England Pot Roast, Fish and Chips, and the much beloved — and quite aptly named — Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake.

And it’s the lunch menu in particular that is the recipient of the recent changes. The main one being that — while a la carte options DO still exist — the All-You-Care-To-Eat Patriot’s Platter is now an option for lunch time, too, in addition to dinner. Here’s a look at just the first portion of the newly updated lunch menu.

Lunch previously had a Thanksgiving-style option with the previous Pilgrim’s Feast, which featured Roast Turkey and Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, and a veggie. But it was not All-You-Care-To-Eat, and the Patriot’s Platter also features Sliced Prime Rib, Carved Pork Roast, and Mac and Cheese in addition to the previously mentioned items. [Read more…]

Trend Alert! Supernova Shakes Debut Around Disney World and Orlando

Planet Hollywood Observatory is opening soon at the West Side area of Disney Springs!

And while we don’t yet know the opening date, we do know a few things. For instance, the refurbished restaurant (formerly Planet Hollywood – the “Observatory” part will be unique to Disney Springs) will offer four floors as well as outdoor dining, along with a 4,000 square foot video wall, live entertainment, and the Stargazers bar.

The location also shared that they have partnered with Food Network’s Guy Fieri in creating an exclusive Burger and Sandwich menu for the location. Other new dishes as well as Planet Hollywood favorites will also be available.

And now we know one more thing… Planet Hollywood Observatory will be serving some over-the-top ice cream creations in the form of some super-loaded Supernova Shakes.

Review: Yak and Yeti Restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

OK, I usually really enjoy my meals at Yak and Yeti Restaurant. But this time? I had a blast! No joke; everything was so, so good. Can’t wait to tell you about it!

The colorful and beautifully themed restaurant, located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is a super hidden gem. This one just doesn’t seem to on the radar of many guests, and that’s a shame. Every time I’ve visited the exotic spot, I’ve had great food and service in beautiful surroundings.

But you know the DFB philosophy. We never rely on a place to stay the same, so we’re always revisiting even the best spots to confirm the quality is still there.

Since it had been a while since my last check-in, I decided it was time to pay a visit once more to Arjun and the good people of Anandapur for some of their warm hospitality.

Atmosphere

If you’re on a pilgrimage en route from Africa to Mount Everest to conquer the mountain and the dreaded Yeti, you’ll surely see Yak and Yeti Restaurant. While its flat facade tends to blend in, the vibrant purple/periwinkle paint ensures that you’ll notice it.

And just in case you’re wondering who the heck Arjun is, he owns this house-turned-restaurant. At least according to Disney’s backstory. Once a wealthy merchant, Arjun has fallen on hard times, and now opens his home to travelers in hopes of making ends meet. The restaurant is filled with treasures that Arjun has gathered along his journeys. [Read more…]
