With the quest for boarding groups calling for an early wake-up call, we often find ourselves hunting for new breakfast options in Hollywood Studios.
And, ABC Commissary has our backs because it’s now opening its doors for BREAKFAST! But, how will these morning menu options compare to the NEW breakfast items over in Batuu? Let’s find out!
Although we’ve seen some of these items already at the Early Morning Magic event in Toy Story Land, ABC Commissary is bringing back old favorites mixed with some brand new goodies!
Rolling out today, the Bakery Sampler is the one of the latest options for guests who want to start their morning off on a sweet note.
The sampler comes with five different bakery items, including Banana Bread…
…a Blueberry Muffin…
…a Cinnamon Roll…
…an Apple Crumble Pastry…
…and a Croissant. The flaky pastry on the Croissant was buttery and had a slight crunch with every bite. It tasted like a typical Disney Croissant (but we’re not complaining!).
While the Banana Bread had some nice flavors and a balance of soft bread with the crunch of the seeds, the pastry was a bit too dry for our taste. It didn’t have that moisture that we normally LOVE in Banana Bread!
The Cinnamon Roll pastry also bummed us out as it was a little dry (although it’s hard to compete with the Cinnamon Roll at Gaston’s Tavern)! However, the cinnamon and sugar flavors layered throughout the treat are super yummy!!
Now that we’re dreaming about cinnamon rolls, check out our favorite Disney Cinnamon Rolls here!
Our least favorite of the treats happened to be the Blueberry Muffin. The pastry had a grainy texture — almost like it was made with wheat flour or corn flour. We hoped the blueberries would add a burst of flavor or moisture to the treat, but ours didn’t have enough throughout to do the trick. But we press on! We do have five different options, after all!
At last, our perseverance was rewarded! The Apple Crumble Pastry was definitely the winner of the plate! The pastry was a slightly more moist than the rest of the Bakery Sampler and had a nice crumbly top. In addition to the apple flavors, there were notes of cinnamon throughout the treat, almost making it taste like an Apple Cinnamon Pound Cake! Can we just have five of these??
We think that the Bakery Sampler would have been better if there were jelly to go along with it, but there wasn’t any when we ordered. However, syrup and butter will be available soon for guests to dip their pastries in! Since this is $7.99 and it comes with 5 different pastries, it would be a great light breakfast option for multiple people. However, if you’re looking for a more substantial bakery treat, you may want to head over to Trolley Car Cafe instead.
Making its grand return, the Shrimp and Cheddar Grits are BACK with a whole mix-up of spicy flavors for $10.99!
Out of all the ABC Commissary breakfast options, this was definitely our favorite! The grits were SUPER cheesy (the best part, duh), and went wonderfully with the shrimp. The sausage was tender and flavorful with the spicy kick from the peppers and onions!
And, it came in a pretty big serving so you can share with your family or friends before you hop on Rise of the Resistance!
Avocado Toast has become a pretty iconic breakfast dish in this day and age, so it’s no surprise that ABC Commissary is jumping on the trend bandwagon!
Buuut, we really wanted to see some more flavor! The egg was plain (so a little salt or pepper could really help out)…
…while the avocado had a LOT of lime mixed in! It tasted more like a lime spread than avocado. We thank you, limes, for keeping our guacamole green– but we were expecting avocado toast, not guacamole toast!
The salad was fresh but ours didn’t have much dressing. So, you won’t be fooled: you are definitely still eating salad. Next time, we may try and ask for a little more dressing to drown, er, drizzle the greens. We appreciated the heaping portion of greens, though, for this $9.99 breakfast.
We love us some Chicken and Waffles for breakfast, and the Fried Chicken and Cinnamon Sugar French Donut served with Sweet Potato Bites for $8.99 is the chefs’ twist on the popular meal.
The made in-house “french donuts” were sweet and had a lovely flaky consistency (think: a croissant, but fried and rolled in cinnamon sugar… croissant + donut = Disney’s take on a Cronut!).
The chicken tenders were crunchy, flavorful, and had a slight spiciness to them (and we would have even been game for more heat!). The kick of flavor from the savory chicken balances out the sweetness from the maple syrup, donut, and sweet potato.
Pro tip: The next time we order this, we think it would be a GREAT idea to grab some extra maple syrup glaze on the side for some tot dunking action!
If you’re looking for more returning eats, you can grab the Breakfast Charcuterie Platter for $10.99…
…with Smoked Salmon, Chopped Hard-boiled Egg, Whipped Cream Cheese, Pickled Red Onions, Capers, Debreziner Sausage, Cured Salami, and Capicola Ham with Seasonal Dressed Greens and Crostini.
Mexican Corn Chilaquiles and Eggs for $9.49 (which also comes in a plant based version!)…
… with Fresh Corn, Black Beans, Caramelized Onions, Poblano Peppers, Chorizo, and Rancho Sauce with House-fried Tortillas, Pico de Gallo, Avocado, and Queso Fresco topped with Scrambled Eggs and Cilantro Cream.
For the little ones, try the Children’s Fried Chicken and Cinnamon-Sugar French Donut for $6.99…
…or the Children’s Scrambled Eggs and Sweet Potato Bites for $5.99!
If you need a quick bite to fuel your morning, ABC Commissary’s breakfast options can be some great picks for the price! We especially enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits and we would gladly eat Sweet Potato Bites with any meal. The portions are big enough to share (or to keep all for yourself) before you explore everything else Hollywood Studios has to offer! Chicken and donuts then Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, anyone??

We need these places to be open BEFORE rides so we can grab while waiting for rope drops! With people getting into park 1 hr early to secure positions for their stand by while they join boarding groups we should have ability for 1 or 2 people able to get out of line and go grab some food while others hold spots in line. Can we confirm Commissary will open with park gate and not official ride start times?
Thx!

Do you know what options may be gluten free here?

I ate there last week and was pleasantly surprise by the offerings. I was expecting the same “bounty platter” that all QS seem to offer, I had the Mexican Corn Chilaquiles and Eggs but and it was good.
