By now we know you’re already slinging webs around July 18th on your calendars in anticipation for Avengers Campus’ grand opening!
And while recently we shared with you some new details regarding Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure, we’re back to share even more Avengers Campus news with you! And this time we’re talking about FOOD — our FAVORITE subject!
While we already told you Disney California Adventure’s new Marvel land would feature an Ant-Man and The Wasp-themed restaurant called Pym Test Kitchen that would open during phase one of Avengers Campus, we just learned SO MANY new exciting DETAILS!
When we first heard red pym particles would be “shrinking” our food while blue ones would be expanding them, we knew this would open the door to some VERY playful plating! And today, according to the Los Angeles Times, the Pym Test Kitchen will emphasize humor and adventurous food presentations!
Pym Test Kitchen
Inside Pym Test Kitchen, you’ll see a giant beer can while pretzels will roll by on a conveyer belt overhead, where the salty snacks will swell in size before your EYES!
And according to Eater, Disney is still finalizing their menus, so keep in mind some of these “prototypes” might change before Avengers Campus officially opens — like this Not So Little Chicken Sandwich! We’re guessing this is one of Ant-Man’s failed experiments! It’s a LARGE chicken schnitzel with a small slider-sized potato bun, topped with Sriracha and teriyaki citrus mayo, and pickled cabbage slaw.
Those Bavarian pretzels you saw expanding? Well, those Quantum Pretzels will be for sale and they’ll be Pym Test Kitchen’s signature item! They’ll come with a side of California IPA cheddar-mozzarella beer cheese perfect for dunking! There will also be smaller-sized soft pretzels done Buffalo-style (topped with chicken, blue cheese, ranch dressing, and pickled vegetables) or dressed up like Elote (with sweet corn sauce, chile-lime mayo, and cotija cheese).
Vegans can enjoy the hearty and whimsical Impossible Spoonful, a massive meatless meatball served in an over-sized ladle for a bowl, topped with a teeny weeny fork sticking out of it! It comes with a rigatoni and ditalini pasta mix, tossed in tomato sauce!
And how about this delicious-looking PYM-ini Sandwich?! Made with focaccia bread, the sandwich is served BY THE TRAY, or the slice like a pizza! It’s filled with two types of salami, provolone cheese, and Fra’Mani ham, along with rice vinegar-based slaw, grain mustard, and a mayo-based giardiniera spread. It’s served with a side of marinara sauce and a fresh arugula salad with pepperoncini dressing!
For the kiddos, there’s a Teeny PYM-ini (smaller version of the sandwich shown above) along with a deconstructed DIY sandwich called the PB&J Flavor Lab. It’s served on an adorable cafeteria tray with “Pym particle” bread, decorated with colorful swirls, and a peel-top container of jelly and peanut butter. Shrunken kid-sized portions of many of the adult options at the restaurant will also be available, like a kid-sized chicken sandwich, mini Impossible meatballs, and pasta. Good Morning America has reported a kid-friendly petri dish of yogurt will also be sold!
According to Marvel, there will also be a PB³ Superb Sandwich made with peanut butter, banana, smoked bacon and strawberry jelly served with a banana smoothie shot and vegetable dusted potato bites!
Save about “a foot” of room for dessert! Pym Test Kitchen will have foot-long candy bars grown in Ant-Man’s Quantum Tunnel! They’ll taste similar to a classic Snickers bar, (chocolate, peanuts, caramel, etc.) and will feature a brownie base.
Pym Tasting Lab
We also have some exciting info to share with you about Pym Tasting Lab, the new outdoor adjacent bar! Pym Tasting Lab with have 20 seats but will also share the same seating area with the Pym Test Kitchen. They’ll be serving beer-based cocktails and hard seltzers which, according to Syfy, you can get upgraded with Glowing Pym Particle Capsules or Pym Particle Discs! Pint-sized Pint beer flights will be poured in mini-beakers and served on trays that resemble pieces of overgrown rulers. Thanks to a reverse draft system, beer will be poured a la Dr. Strange-style from the bottom up (like he did with Thor’s mug in the movie!).
Several specialty drinks will also be served — all creatively displayed in themed glassware! Pym Tasting Kitchen’s Coca-Cola Freestyle machines will also be dispensing the neon green Pingo Doce soda from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk while the non-alcoholic Proton PB&J Punch will feature strawberry and peanut butter lemonade topped with peanut butter-infused whipped cream and peanut butter-covered pretzel bites!
You’ll be able to enjoy the new Molecular Meltdown, a marshmallow milk stout with vanilla ice cream and mini marshmallows, and the Regulator, a Golden Road Mango Cart Wheat Ale with Patron Silver, lime juice, and habanero-mango syrup. According to The OCR, additional Marvel offerings will include Honey Buzz, an Elysian Space Dust IPA, Plymouth gin, lemon juice and honey syrup with an edible straw, X-Periment, Patron Silver tequila, lime juice, habanero and mango syrup garnished with mango-flavored popping pearls, and Particle Fizz — Endless Summer hard seltzer with cherry-flavored pearls.
Snack Molecules, a mix of caramel popcorn, mini-pretzels, peanuts, and Sriracha or strawberry cheesecake-flavored popped sorghum which you’ll be able to get next door will make a perfect munchy to accompany your bevy!
New Food Carts
The Shawarma Palace
We also learned Avengers Campus would be getting two new food carts, and while several homages to the Marvel movies will be featured throughout the new land, we can confirm one of these food kiosks will be called The Shawarma Palace — fans might recognize this reference to a much-loved “Avengers” post-credits scene!
At this new Avengers Campus spot, you’ll find a warm chicken wrap with garlic sauce, and a vegetarian Impossible Victory Falafel with hummus and crusted cauliflower. Dip any of their offerings in their signature creamy lemon tahini sauce (don’t mind if we DO!).
Terran Treats
The other food cart is called Terran Treats, where you’ll be able to satisfy your love of Marvel and sweet tooth at the same time! Offerings will include these technicolor churros called Sweet Spiral Rations! But just to warn you — don’t expect the flavors to match the bright hues!
At Terran Treats (which will be over by Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout!) you’ll also be able to snag a Cosmic Cream Orb! These sweet treats will be similar to a raspberry cheesecake pate a choux, and they look AH-MAZING!
But WAIT! We have a couple additional BITS of new info to share with you! Remember that action-packed Marvel stunt show we told you about a while back? You’ll be about to see the rooftop stage from Pym Test Kitchen! We also know both Pym Test Kitchen and Pym Tasting Lab will utilize Mobile Order, so you can get your superfood super FAST! Eating comedically huge foods and watching some of our favorite Marvel heroes battle it out IRL? We’re soooo there!
