Now, it appears that a very early step in the process of resuming operations in Disneyland is being put into motion. Disney is working with California government and health officials to reinstate limited teams for “essential work” on Avengers Campus and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
According to the Orange County Register, construction will periodically be performed in regards to Disneyland’s two upcoming attractions, as well as a few others to protect the projects. This is resuming as the resort remains closed.
Specifically, the “skeleton crews” will be weather protecting Avengers Campus and receiving steel deliveries for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The crews will be made up of Disneyland employees, Walt Disney Imagineers, and third-party contractors.
So far, work has not resumed on the Disneyland refurbishments that were underway during the closure including Haunted Mansion, Snow White’s Scary Adventures, and King Arthur’s Carrousel. Third-party companies have resumed construction at two Downtown Disney locations — Sanuk sandal store and Starbucks.
Disneyland placed a halt on construction shortly after the closure of the theme parks. According to the earnings call, they paused $900 million in construction projects. Avengers Campus, originally set to open July 18th, is now listed as “Coming Soon” on the Disneyland website. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway has maintained its projected opening of sometime in 2022.
