Closer Look at NEW Spider-Man Attraction Coming to Disney’s Avengers Campus!

Despite the delay, we’re still very excited about Avengers Campus coming to Disney California Adventure!

The BIG ride coming to the new land when it opens later this year is WEB Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure featuring your favorite web-swinging-and-slinging superhero. Now, we’re getting a closer look at the upcoming attraction!

During the D23 event celebrating 20 years of Disney California Adventure, Disney creative teams shared a closer look at WEB Slingers and just how guests will get the power to sling webs of their own.

The ride vehicles let guests shoot webs to help Spider-Man with a bit of a Spider-Bot issue. We’ve seen some of the concept art before, but today we got a little sneak peek of the ACTUAL attraction! We’ve seen a behind-the-scenes look at the ride vehicles, but today’s pictures give us more insight.

While Brittany Howell, the project coordinator for the attraction, talked about her experience working on the upcoming ride, we got to see a bit more of the ride vehicles and loading area. It looks like the queue already has some plexiglass in place, like many Disney World attractions do. Disneyland Resort’s theme parks do not have an official reopening date yet, however Disney has announced a reopening timeline for late April.

Brittany shared that she’s been on WEB Slingers about 100 times now, and her high score is 480,000. With a teammate, she was able to score a whopping 1,600,000! We can’t wait to give it a go ourselves! It was very important to the team that there was an attraction with no height requirement, and WEB Slingers was perfect since he is beloved by people of all ages.

The event also provided some more details on the creation of Avengers Campus. Imagineer Steve Spiegel said that the Avengers are “like the Muppets because they live in our world. In some ways, we can put them anywhere on Earth and it makes sense for an Avengers land.”

It was also mentioned that when the quinjet arrived, “it went from a construction site to ‘the Avengers are here’, it’s gonna be okay.”
