One Disney World park has been incredibly busy in recent years!
That’s right, it’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Just in the past few years, Disney has added Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway to this park. It’s home to some of the best and most popular rides, and we’ve seen quite a few restaurants here get updated menus recently to improve the food scene. So what else is new in Hollywood? Well, today, we’re sharing all the updates we noticed this week!
Hollywood Studios Construction Updates
Alien Swirling Saucers
Let’s start this news roundup over in Toy Story Land, where we noticed that the walls are down at Alien Swirling Saucers! For several days, the right side of the attraction was covered up during a short refurbishment, but now it seems that the work has been completed.
During that time, the ride had stayed open but was operating at half capacity, so it wasn’t included on Disney’s list of refurbishment closures. We’ve seen similar things happen at other rides with multiple parts, like Tower of Terror.
Hollywood Studios Attraction Updates
Star Wars: Launch Bay
Before the closure of the parks, Star Wars: Launch Bay was a great stop in Animation Courtyard for Star Wars fans to “geek out” and learn more about their favorite movies. Back then, this area was home to a behind-the-scenes film, lots of movie memorabilia, and even meet and greets with popular characters like Darth Vader or Chewbacca. However, since the reopening, this area has felt pretty lackluster, with the film and meet and greets closed. Now, one of the most iconic props is gone as well!
We noticed this week that the speeder bike that was used in the filming of Return of the Jedi is no longer available for viewing in the gallery. It used to be on display right by the main entrance of Launch Bay, but currently, the glass is completely covered from view.
Hollywood Studios Merchandise Updates
The Darkroom
Moving on to the merchandise, we spotted a few new items in The Darkroom right on Hollywood Boulevard. First up is the Merida-themed Apple Watch Band! You can pick up this accessory for $36.99.
We also spotted two new Pride items in this store. The Pride Phone Case is $29.99 and says “Belong Believe Be Proud” on the back.
And if you like that pattern, you can also snag the matching magnet for $14.99!
Disney released quite a bit of Pride merchandise this year in stores all across the parks, so make sure to check out the full collection if you’re interested.
Mickey’s of Hollywood
Pixar’s newest film, Lightyear, is officially in theaters, and if you’re an instant fan of the movie, we’ve got something for you! Or, more accurately…your kiddo. This Lightyear kids’ shirt was in Mickey’s of Hollywood this week.
If you want to add this one to your little one’s wardrobe, it’s $24.99.
Once Upon a Time
Wishables are one of Disney World’s most popular collectibles these days, and the Dumbo Wishables are no exception! We spotted the Timothy Mouse individual Wishable from that collection in Once Upon a Time.
This collection has already arrived online, so be sure to check it out if they’re still available there. You can get the Timothy plush for $16.99.
Droid Depot
At Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, guests can build their own droid companion to take home with them! For the longest while, there were just two different types of droids you could build — the R-series and the BB-series (though you could customize the individual pieces). But now, there’s a third addition!
This week we noticed that guests can now find parts to build C-series droids in Droid Depot. If you’re wondering what a C-series droid looks like, the most famous representation is Chopper from the Star Wars: Rebels series. (Who will also be appearing in the upcoming Ahsoka show on Disney+, as confirmed at Star Wars Celebration.)
Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities
Our last stop is right around the corner from Droid Depot at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. This unique shop is home to many items that Star Wars fans will want to collect, and this week, new Galactic Credits joined that list.
You can buy this pack of assorted credits for $29.99.
